Keep hearing how good this game is but 10 hours in it is super linear and boring the life out of me. What am I missing?
Because the game forces you to slow down. Must walk through camp, must travel at a certain speed, game even forces certain weapons on you in certain situations. i hated the single player, and red dead 1 is my favorite single player game of all time.

Wonder if the PS5 will enhance any of the PS4 games. Yesterday's event showed a few PS4 games running on PS5 and taking advantage of the solid state loading times. But nothing confirms if PS4 games will get treated like what PS4 Pro does to boost FPS or get special texture packages.
We know PS5 will output/upscale your games to 4K & 8K. Similar to how the 1st Gen PS3 did for PS1 & PS2 games. (I still have my OG PS3) !!

Is the "Ultimate" edition for $33 worth it ($7 more)
I'm wondering this as well. Most of it's trash but I'm curious if the missions are worth it.

Unlike what someone else said, the online version is horrible. Read all the user reviews and see who is telling the truth.

in my opinion yes. it has some pacing issues in the beginning but i'm glad I stuck with it. I played it on gamepass but if I had disposable money right now I would buy it for ps4

Will it get even lower like $20 on BF? $20 is like the sweet spot for me that I'm willing to pay for digital.

Honestly, as a huge fan of the first game, I just never could get into this one. I stuck with it for a few dozen hours--almost like a chore--because so many of my friends told me that it takes time to get good. For me, it just never really got any better. I found the controls to be a little clunky and unreliable, and the story was fairly predictable most of the time and got awfully repetitive. I also never understood why people who wanted to keep a low profile kept insisting on robbing banks and trains!

I'm glad someone else feels this way about the game, too. These aren't my main gripes, but they are annoying. I know not every game can be for everyone, and obviously I'm not knocking anyone for loving this game. But speaking for myself, I don't think I've ever been more let down by a game. I even reset my expectations after about a dozen hours but even then still couldn't get into it.

Special Edition
The Red Dead Redemption 2 Special Edition costs $79.99 and comes with a selection of extra content, including a bank robbery mission and a mission that tasks you with clearing one of the hideouts of the Del Lobos Gang. You'll also get a dappled black thoroughbred horse to use throughout the story and a matching saddle to go along with it, along with a special talisman and medallion that will give you a buff to environmental awareness and damage reduction while riding on horseback.

Players who pick up the Special Edition will earn more cash during robbery missions and get boosts to Arthur's primary stats: stamina, health, and Dead Eye. Beyond that, you'll get a discount on camp upgrades, a Nuevo Paraiso Gunslinger outfit, and access to three free weapons that you can pick up from one of the game's gunsmiths. If you pick up the Special Edition at retail, you'll get a physical world map too, which is a nice little bonus.

Ultimate Edition
The Ultimate Edition runs $99.99 and comes with everything the standard edition does while tossing in some extra goodies for the game's online mode. You'll be granted access to two bonus outfits to use online – the Blackrose Bounty Hunter Outfit and the Copperhead Enforcer Outfit – along with the black chestnut thoroughbred horse. Unlike the dapple black thoroughbred, you'll be able to use this horse in Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode.

The Ultimate Edition also comes with a special Survivor theme for your online camp, along with a rank progression boost that will earn you your first 25 ranks in online faster. If you're not planning to spend a lot of time playing Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode – which won't even enter beta until next month – you can definitely save some cash by skipping the Ultimate Edition and buying the Special Edition to unlock all of the single player bonuses. It should be noted that in addition to the physical world map, the Ultimate Edition also comes with a steelbook case if you buy at retail, which is something the Special Edition is missing.
But on PSN the special edition is listed at 79.00 still while the Ultimate is listed at 33.00. I will get the ultimate even I won't play online much. Its just a lot cheaper which makes no sense

I play on the Xbox. The single player campaign is easily one of the best games ever made. A little slow to start but once you get into it, it's incredible. Stunning graphics, 200+ hours of content, really memorable story. So many times you'll stop to admire the scenery. There's so much to do to get to 100% completion and unlock every achievement/trophy.

Online is still growing and improving. It's not nearly as bad as people say. The community is way more chill than GTA. There have been some bugs but most are worked through. It seems right now their "fix" has been to limit the number of gamers in each session so I'm not seeing many server disconnects. There are 5 roles you can progress through: naturalist (sampling animals), bounty hunting, trader (hunting & selling goods), moonshiner (selling goods), & collector (hidden stuff all over map). Plenty of ways to make money, although I'd say the majority of things to purchase are just cosmetic enhancements. There are some quality of life improvements you can purchase like camp & horse upgrades, guns/special ammo. Rumors are that they'll be adding properties to the game. It has potential. Not nearly as much online content as GTAV, but it's still enjoyable to play.

Play this game and see for yourself. The single player campaign is an absolute masterpiece.
Correct on the single player, but don't listen to this dude regarding online. "Bugs"..."most are worked through." That's the lie of the decade right there. It's literally impossible to go one day (sometimes as soon as 5 minutes, rarely as long as two hours) without the server crashing. It will specifically state: "You have been disconnected from Red Dead Online due to a fault on Rockstar game services [Error: 0x20010006]"

Tell me more about how a game that's been out almost two years backed by a company with literally infinite shark card money is "worked through" when most games have better stability in Alpha. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Edit: This is the same company whose most recent update to the game was completely reverting to the previous one because it literally shut the game down COMPLETELY for 4 days. Not only did the garbage update somehow pass QC, but the idiots said 'uh, crap guys, what do we do? the game is unplayable. uhhhhhhhhhhh. idk.' IT TOOK 4 WHOLE DAYS for them to decide 'ooh I know, maybe we should revert to the previous update that half-ass worked!' Complete f***ing idiots.
