based on you logic, a basketball player doesn't run? a basketball player "has their ankles locked into place" using these shoes?

honestly I'm curious if these would be decent running shoes, but poor speculation doesn't help.
If you are really asking these questions instead of just arguing, I will say you can go ahead to buy them for running. As it is clear you don't care about running seriously anyway.

Basketball players require more ankle support because of the way they move. Sure running is part of it, but it's not a primary function of the sport. If it was, don't you think basketball shoes would look more like running shoes? The extra support for the ankle is fine for BASKETBALL, but for just running, a running shoe is best for running.

running shoes are generally cheaper than basketball shoes though.

Which only makes the question more curious. When I played, I only used my basketball shoes for basketball, as they were generally quite an expensive shoe.

I purchased these and they fit to size. Really comfortable and I usually struggle with Nike bball shoes since I have wide feet. Haven't taken it to the court yet but testing it on they seem comfortable and look good enough just to go out and about with if that's your style.

are these good for running too? heels look kinda thick and cushiony but can't really tell by the design
I would never recommend running in basketball shoes. They are heavy, bulky, and not really built for the non-stop motion of running. Your feet will hurt. Get yourself any pair of running shoes and it'll be better.

LISTEN KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

Fair enough. I used to play basketball in my Pegasus and almost rolled my ankles multiple times. Didn't stop until it happened to a friend with who was playing with Vapormax and tore his ACL landing.
Yes that is the reason regular shoes cant be used for basketball

These shoes are actually very nice, and i would argue they are good shoes for running, i have a few pairs of other HOVR shoes from under armour, these have better support so i actually like them more than my 120 dollar pair of phantoms.

Depends on what you're comparing them to. If I was being chased by a bear, I'd much rather be wearing these than a pair of cowboy boots or bedroom slippers, I guess. Would I intentionally wear these to run a 5k or further? No.

Basketball shoes are designed to have a ton of lateral support and ankle support, but they don't usually have the smoothest heel to toe transition for running. UA does make several nice lines of HOVR running shoes if you like the HOVR cushion and the UA aesthetic, though.
These looks really good and they're fairly cheap. But, good point about the smoothest heel to toe transition for running. Would love to get some Hoka running shoes but they're so expensive.
