KOBALT 30-Gallon Two Stage Portable Electric Vertical Air Compressor. I was lucky to grab this last year at $125, and I just saw that it's on clearance at $291. It's reg. $529 and sometimes on sale for just under $500. Note that this is a oil-lubricated, two stage pump and not very loud.

This looks like it's very ymmv since most of the stores near me are still at the full price. This is a great mid size compressor if you can find one.

Look in the specs, it list a couple different cfms at different psi's. The 90psi rating is what you want to know, not 175psi.

I had to dig for it so I thought I would share.
I don't own this unit. The lower CFM might be for the 110v and the higher CFM is for the 220v since this is a two stage compressor.

I don't own it either.
Dual stage is how it compresses the air.
Most likely everyone that buys this will be plugging it into 110. If you have a 220 hookup for a compressor you probably already have a much bigger one.

Yeah I was wrong about the voltage. I looked up the dual stage..

In the first stage, air is compressed at 90. In the 2nd stage the same air is compressed a 2nd time at roughly 175 psi and then stored in the tank.

What make this air compressor standout is the dual stage feature at this clearance price

So I tested the compressor today. Came pre-wired as 110 (pulls 15amps) and may re-wire it to 220, but it started perfectly. Withhout the air filter installed it was loud, but once it was on I was able to have a decent conversation without yelling. It'll be silent in the shed next to the garage. Overall I'm happy!

Bummer - no go in my area (South Western Ohio), lots of inventory but no clearance prices. This would have been a fantastic addition to the garage.

Found one for $200. The sfcm @ 90psi is only around 4. Not sure how this is $500 regularly.
Largest cfm and still plug into a normal receptacle. Portable. Quieter than normal oil less compressors.

Pancake compressors are around 2.6cfm at 90 for $150. Will run very often since 6 gallon. Loud.

Larger cfm air compressors require mounting to floor and 240V permanent wiring. Common 30A Dryer or 50A stove plugs are not rated for motor hp loads. High startup current.

Northern California, about 1/2 the stores have them in stock for full price. No discounts. Are you sure yours was not a refurbished or returned unit?

Does anyone else see one on clearance anywhere? I really want to get one in my garage and this seems to be a great size.

I actually on this and it doesn't keep up with air grinders and such so well so I'm almost afraid to paint my excursion with it. That being said it is much quieter than my old electric CH.

Just bought one for $185 after I bought a display a few days ago at $291. I didn't realize until I got home that it was missing the air filter and quick connect. Went back to see if they had the missing parts and they didn't but they found a new one stashed in the back and sold it to me for the now $185 price. Going to return the other first one to the Decatur, IL store.
