Uncut Gems is without a doubt the worst movie I've ever watched in my life. No kidding. It REALLY sucked!
I've never seen it. I just want to comment that I keep finding this mentioned so much on movie deal forums, and now I kind of have to watch it, just because it so clearly gives people an extreme reaction either one way or the other, and honestly I don't know what I will think about it when I do finally watch it. I don't think I've ever seen a comments that says "yeah, it was OK, or it was Meh." There must be something there that is strong one way or the other, and I just want to explore what that is. I might regret actually watching it; and honestly that's a fear because you're certainly not the only one to voice this sentiment about this movie.

On the other hand I remember when I was a kid of maybe 12, my mother took me to a theatre and it had Harold and Maude which we didn't know anything about. And I didn't know anything about what was going on, except it seemed to have a teenage boy obsessed with death and eventually possibly sex with an old lady. So my mother was predictably disturbed and grabbed me about 30 minutes in and she demanded we get a refund or to get to go some other movie. (I think this was one of the first of the multi-movie cineplexes). Of course now I recognize that this movie is considered a classic work of cinema art based on writing, filming, and soundtrack.

If it's a solid enough time people will watch dark movies plenty of times

Uncut is lots of been there done that but the performance is great for a one and done with an okay script
Plenty of dark movies I've watched countless times, like Requiem for a dream, taxi driver, A clockwork orange, but I just thought that Sandler's protagonist in this film was, while still sympathetic, almost too despicable to root for. Which is credit to him for playing the role perfectly. If you're already interested in this film, you'll probably enjoy it. But apart from enjoying Sandler's performance, I don't see as many reasons to revisit this film as some of the other darker classics.

Also Three Days of the Condor a very good and disturbing watch. Great acting. Things very dated and probably not PC today. Also eye-opening in that this sort of stuff did go on in reality, and probably still goes on today. Just not with great actors.

Like pmarin started, a few above me, I've never seen the movie, but I feel like I need to now.

With that out of the way, I had to go with my little brother to the movies. We watched Mr. Magoo (Leslie Nelson), THAT, my friend, was an awful movie. I bet you that movie would take the title from Uncut Gems.

It a toss up on whether Mr Magoo or Unbreakable was worse. They are both in the running, in my mind, for worst movie ever seen.

Exactly. It was that gray area where I wasn't sure who to cheer for, like Breaking Bad. That makes for an entertaining movie but I was kind of ambivalent on the ending because of that.

I think Uncut Gems is one of those love it or hate it type of films. Personally for me, I had a headache once I left the theater. The movie was just "noise". Moved too fast with the dialogue, as almost like everyone was speaking at once without breathing or any breaks.

I completely agree. You said it best about the dialogue. I get the same way. It got way better reviews than it deserved.

Master & Commander - wish we had another movie like it to look forward to. Its a blockbuster production but it feels like a much smaller production at the same time. Just good ol narrative and character driven entertainment.
Would have loved a sequel.

It's a great movie but you'll be so farking stressed watching it. Never had a movie do that to me before.

If you can get past the protags motivation and most of the island melodrama and jack rackum, Black Sails may be what you're looking for or try the Brando Bounty.

If you haven't seen the movie, trailer itself for North by Northwest is worth watching. Not many directors like Hitchcock.

Great movie - and looking that up just saw that the actress from NbyNW voices Katara in the Legend of Kohra.
