For work purpose some may prefer to run 1440 on native resolution without scaling.for gaming 1440 available at higher Hz too
I was all about native resolutions until I got a 4K monitor and started using 150% scale in windows. Windows has gotten much better at scaling. It is stunning. Blows away my 27 1440p monitor at 100% scale when sitting so lettering is about the same size. Also scaling at looks MUCH better than running my 4K monitor at 1440p.

For productivity, 60hz at 4K isn't that demanding. I'm sold on high res screens now.

These are not good for dual monitor setup, bezel is too big. It also has a metal part protruding below VESA mount obstructing certain VESA monitor stands

Why 4k monitors don't go down in price like the case for tv. I got this monitor 3 years ago for the same price from newegg. It works great with my macbook pro. Highly recommend it.
This monitor came out this year.

Upgrading from a Dell monitor I bought back in 2009. I'm sure I'm gonna be blown away.

Splitting it between a second computer screen for Netflix/HBO/Disney/Hulu and then also the eventual PS5. Hoping it's a great medium between my two needs.

That depends on what software you're using too. We have to use lots of software at work in which the software vendor doesn't give a squat about updating their tools (such as Oracle SQL Developer) - so the icons in the software look super fuzzy when using it on a 4K panel - but looks totally fine if set to 100% scaling....but then at 100% scaling on a small 4K screen, everything else in Windows 10 looks very tiny. Corel Paintshop Pro X also looks bad on Windows scaling.

Literally an hour before this deal was posted I ordered a Sammy UR55 Series 28" IPS 4K UHD for pickup from Best Buy. $350. Haven't picked up yet. Comparing specs, outside of the additional 1" screen size, the only difference is that there's a min/typical contrast ratio provided for this LG and the Samsung spec states just the 1000:1 (there very well may be a min/typ for that also). Oh, and the other difference is $100. Starting to feel buyer's remorse.

Anyone have strong opinions either way?
(for use as secondary with MacBook Pro/Air running graphic design apps)

Has anyone used this monitor for gaming? I'm concerned skit the refresh rate at 60hz. I'm looking to use this for gaming on pc, ps4, ps5 and the Xbox series X. Is this a good monitor for what I am looking to use it for?

Well, the consoles aren't going to do better than 60 fps, so no issue there.

The 5ms lag is pretty reasonable for an IPS panel. Not stellar. but unless you're going pro I wouldn't pay more to shave off a couple of milliseconds.

On PC, kinda need to know what set-up you have/plan to have. It currently takes a pretty powerful cpu/gpu combo to run 4k faster than 60 fps with reasonable detail settings.

However, this is changing rapidly and will continue to change as hardware gets more powerful. Even if your current PC rig can't do much more than 60 fps, it's likely your next upgrade may be bottlenecked by a 60hz monitor. If you change monitors every few years this might not matter. Sell this one and buy a new one, etc. Generally speaking, "future proofing" is not a good financial strategy when buying PC gear, BUT, a lot of folks hang onto monitors through several upgrade cycles. So, they can be an exception where planning a few years down the road makes sense.

Thank you OP-- I got one. Been waiting for a 27" 4k monitor to come along under $300. Working with one monitor (after your other one fell and broke during a move) is like having one arm tied behind your back ;-)

Picked this up; I think it will fit my use case well, for 50% work, 10% content creation, and 40% gaming. I'm planning on playing the new Doom but I'm not a hardcore gamer in general.
