I came from Net10 (on Verizon towers) and switched to RedPocket a few months on the same Verizon towers. Call quality has become absolutely horrible and get disconnected VERY frequently. This occurs about 50% of the time which is extremely frustrating especially since I use this for my work. Visual voicemail is an added monthly fee that was included with Net10's pricing. We're stuck with them for another 9-10 months, but once that is over I'm switching out immediately.

I just noticed they bumped up the GSMA/CDMA/CDMAS plan (yes it also includes Verizon compatibility!) from 5 GB/month to 7 GB/month! I've been frequently going over my 5 GB with only a few days left each cycle so this would've been helpful. Checked my account online and it shows 7GB even though I activated 7/14/2020 Yay!

I did a search prior to posting and this deal did not come up, but I now see it's a repost. Delete or merge.

I guess this is on par with some other competitors... but I'm a little disappointed, if there will not be RP deals like last year. I think we paid between $240 and $300 for whatever the GSMA XL RP plan allotment is. (Although the plans were on sale AND we had ebay coupons). It was for like 15 or 20gb or something via GSMA (AT&T). It'll be really difficult to get my family to downgrade to a lower data plan.

Will be interesting trying to find a good competitor for service..... T-Mobile has very poor reception in some places my family goes, so Mint/T-Mobile is not realistic for us. And I feel like generally, Mint is the major competitor to RedPocket...

Pulled my four lines from T-Mobile because I was on 2GB SimpleChoice plan and had inherited StateSide International for the entire account (not per line) for an additional $10. Bill used to be a paltry $115 after affiliate discount but 2GB was just not enough so I figured why not move over to GSMA on RedPocket on the 8 GB family plan (4 lines for $90) and free international calling. If international calls and visual voice mail is important to you, look elsewhere. RedPocket is not it.

Pulled the trigger around 2 months ago and I must admit that the international calling experience is horrendous. For three of the four lines, I had to reach out to RedPocket to activate it on their end even though you'd think it's automatically be activated on when you enroll (just like caller id, and voice mail is). One my friends joined the family plan with her iPhone X. Hasn't been able to make international calls yet. Customer service asked her to use the access code and then dial the phone number. For example, for the National Library in Spain, the number she would have to dial is 1 712 775 8888 001 34 915 80 78 00. The fact that they think its okay to expect customers to dial these many digits in 2020 is mind boggling.

For the other two lines on Android, international calling works but the experience is still ridiculous. When you dial an international number, you can hear it ring a few times, just like you would if you dialed locally. But then an automated service picks up and says "Please wait while we connect your call", and then the phone rings again until someone picks up. Basically, making an international calls, when it works, will take around 60 seconds before someone picks up. Yes you can use Google Voice to make cheap international calls, but if you take away RP's free international calling, why chose it over other MVNOs?

Visual Voicemail is available on iPhone because that is a system app in iOS. But on Android, to get Visual Voicemail you have to pay like $4 extra per month per line. Once again, in 2020, this makes no sense. Not to mention, they make it impossible to remember regular voice mail password because unlike every carrier since the beginning of time, VM password with RP is 7 digit! Not 6 not 4, but 7 digit and because every other pin in the world is 4 digit (ATM pin, last four of your social etc.), you invariably get it wrong the first couple of times.

Customer Service really tries hard but I think their technology sets them aback. For example, when you reach out to CS if you are unable to make international calls, they "refresh" the account by manually removing and reinserting the feature codes on your account. Then they ask you to restart the phone. Of course you lose them when you restart and getting them back on the phone is usually a 40 minute wait. I understand that at $20/month, there is only so much customer service they can provide but I don't think they have equipped CS with proven solutions that are guaranteed to work.

RedPocket cost includes all taxes and fees.
You pay no more than the agreed upon fee for 360 days.

We've been using RedPocket for 3 years. I've got the T-Moble variant. My wife has the Verizon variant.
Never problems with reception or drop outs. And mobile hotspot comes fully enabled.
Highly recommended.

I'm currently using Red Pocket (AT&T). Service is comprable to normal AT&T service...I have not experienced any lag or dropped calls and I'm 9 months into my year plan. I did have some trouble when I originally tried to start the service...they had just recently implemented expiration dates/time limits - I believe they require you to start the service within 30 days after purchasing the plan from eBay. So I had to deal with customer service for a few hours, and english is not their first language. But we eventually got everything ironed out and I've been good to go ever since.

Another important thing to take note of is the cost of buying extra data. $10 for 1 GB, $15 for 2 GB.

I used to get disconnects, sometimes as short as ten seconds, on my calls with Red Pocket's AT&T GSM, prepaid for a year.

Anyone experience similar with their Verizon and Sprint plans?
I have an unlocked Galaxy S10 and my wife has a unlocked Galaxy S9, we have not had any disconnects with our Red Pocket AT&T GSM.

EDIT: We have had the 5GB plan for the last couple years. After seeing this deal, I logged into my account and sure enough, we are on the 7GB plan now. So we didn't even need to do anything to get this extra data. Nicely done Red Pocket!

Yes, immediately. . . after 10 months.LMAO
My wife must have Verizon, I have been considering RP, but this concerns me.
Any idea why? What phone are you using? Could it be CDMA vs VoLTE or some APN issue?
Maybe the 2GB plan with VoLTE is more expansive for a good reason? We've had it for about two years and we have nothing to complain in term of the call quality. They did mess up my subcrisption one time. I contacted CS and it was resolved. But still, that's kinda annoying.

Though the plan is good deal don't lock yourself to a 1 year, most likely there'll be far better deals in next few months due to less wireless usage (COVID/WFH situation)..

So I currently have an unlocked Pixel 3 on Verizon prepaid (6 GB/mo for $35) and tether often.

Looks like I'd lose the ability to tether on Verizon (CDMA) but could tether on ATT and Tmobile's networks so maybe it'd be okay in most areas? No idea how that works if my phone is currently on a Verizon tower when I try to tether. I imagine it could be a problem though?

"CDMA: Tethering and Hotspot services are supported on most iOS devices, please contact support to enable services."

I tether on my Android LG V35 with no problems..

I dont have any issues like this. I came from Straight Talk using same Verizon Towers. might be a priority thing in congested areas. I live in rural Maine and never had a disconnect. I use a free Google Voice account for visual voice-mail.
