I just noticed they bumped up the GSMA/CDMA/CDMAS plan (yes it also includes Verizon compatibility!) from 5 GB/month to 7 GB/month! I've been frequently going over my 5 GB with only a few days left each cycle so this would've been helpful. Checked my account online and it shows 7GB even though I activated 7/14/2020 Yay!

I did a search prior to posting and this deal did not come up, but I now see it's a repost. Delete or merge.
I haven't checked online yet but when I texted Bal to 3888 it still showed as data remaining from 5gb. I just started a new month a couple days ago (17th).

*Checked online and see that it's changed to 7GB. Guess I have to wait until next month?
Hope that I'm not grandfathered in to 5GBs. :-)

We tried Red Pocket a few months ago, going off of SD'ers saying they use Verizon towers. When we switched my son's A51 over, we barely got 1 bar at home, when we used Verizon, he constantly got all bars throughout the house and may lose 1 bar in the basement.. Using apps like Cell Network Info, we found out that it was connecting to Sprint's towers way farther away than the Verizon tower that's right down the street. He never could get below -120 RSRP. Even more odd, is when we went to his grandparents house, it connected to a Cricket owned tower with a weak signal, and there was a AT&T tower about 1/3 of the distance according to the map. Went back to Verizon and he's back to his strong signal and 38Mbps download speeds, which Red Pocket never went higher than 5Mbps. When dealing with RP on why it keeps connecting to only towers far away and not the Verizon one that's less than a mile away from me, they kept replying with the same canned answer on how their system connects you to the next available tower and it relied on tower congestion, blah blah blah. In 20 days, it never once connected to the Verizon tower from home.

Edit: I forgot to mention, when porting your number back to your previous carrier from RP is a huge pain in the ass. It took 9 phone calls, and 5 days to get his number back to Verizon. Also when you deal with their customer service, if you answer you're happy with the customer service, their emails will ask you to review them on sites like TrustPilot. If you answer no you're not happy, or if they do not fix the problems you have, notice the email does not contain the "Rate us" section.

If you're happy with Mint, why go to Hello Mobile? Are they that much cheaper to make it worth the switch? Especially when you have no headaches now? Just curious, nothing more.

Three of the four phone numbers I got from Mint were spammed regularly from prior users. I haven't seen this reported with Hello Mobile.

I see RP support is already on your case. . . At the least you need to make sure VoLTE and Wifi Calling are enabled.
Is this for existing customers?

As is the case often when carrier deals, people have far varying experience with CS and Service. The one that that will never vary with RPM is their insane limit of text messaging. If you message often (like say 10 times per minute) both send and receive which is easy to do when having a conversation, they will turn off your text without warning. When you complain they send you to their TOS stating unlimited is not really unlimited.

just a heads up, i've had red pocket for years. i got an lg thinq g7 phone off ebay a year and a half ago, it worked great, then a year ago it literally would lose service for days. i'd pop the sim in another phone and it would work immediately. red pocket mobile was of no technical support to me whatsoever. i'll never use them again once my year runs out in may.

Sadly this is a problem with most carriers. My wife got a new number from Verizon and she received over 100+ texts a day thanks to the previous owner "Tina". After about a week, we went to the Verizon store to see if there's anything we can do, and they gave her a new number for free, and even told us it was a brand new number that was never used previously.

Also have to factor in that at&t prepaid is straight from the source, persay. Last time I tried redpocket gsma (at&t) the service was awful. Delayed texts, crap reception overall, no wifi calling.. won't try again.

to be clear, at&t prepaid (paying att directly) is amazing in my house. 50MB\sec down (compared to 5 max with RP), wifi calling works, never issues sending or receiving messages).
Agreed! The price sounds great but the horror story of people having to call to get new month to work and the dropped calls are scary. I'd rather pay the $60 extra and get att prepaid and avoid the nonsense.

I'm not saying to move away from them, but if you ever have that problem again, ask your carrier if they can give you a new number since the one they gave you is on several spam lists.

I came from Net10 (on Verizon towers) and switched to RedPocket a few months on the same Verizon towers. Call quality has become absolutely horrible and get disconnected VERY frequently. This occurs about 50% of the time which is extremely frustrating especially since I use this for my work. Visual voicemail is an added monthly fee that was included with Net10's pricing. We're stuck with them for another 9-10 months, but once that is over I'm switching out immediately.
I have four lines with RP. On one of them (mine - the one I use for all my work calls) I have had two random cell complete outages this year, which I find unacceptable. Took days of chats to get service restored. It's cheap - yes, but I'm tired of these interruptions. I'm going to move my service from RP once it expires in a few months. Going to keep the other three lines which haven't suffered this problem.

Interesting. Which of the cell carriers did you get through red pocket? What makes it better than Mint? I'm currently on Mint and am coming up on renewal and I wanna see if there is something better out there..

I switched from Mint to RPM for more than 2 years now. Mint LTE has 5 mbps while RPM (GSMA) has 22+ mbps.

I did that several times with Mint, as the replacement numbers given were often just as 'spammy'. But I've spammed them enough in this thread, so I'm saying Hola to Hello.

So I currently have an unlocked Pixel 3 on Verizon prepaid (6 GB/mo for $35) and tether often.

Looks like I'd lose the ability to tether on Verizon (CDMA) but could tether on ATT and Tmobile's networks so maybe it'd be okay in most areas? No idea how that works if my phone is currently on a Verizon tower when I try to tether. I imagine it could be a problem though?

Source: https://help.redpocket.com/hc/en-...ket-plans-
You can use SecureTether [google.com] or NetBridge [google.com] to tether on Android. Both have worked for me to take it look like I'm using regular data instead of tethering. Takes a bit of setup, but after that it's easy.

Thats an error on rp account portal for existing user, what u see 7GB just a text error, u phone plan still get 5GB. Im noticed the same, if u check your data balance it doesn't dump up to 7GB.
