Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits card for 50% Amazon Prime

P-EBT relief cards are being issued nationwide. The EBT card issued may be used for Amazon's discount program with Prime for Medicaid/SNAP-benefits recipients. For those unaware, even non-traditional recipients may be eligible for P-EBT because school districts with school-wide free/reduced lunches are being issuing the benefit to all students in the district, not just students below the poverty line. More information about the program can be found at: https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/sta...c-ebt-pebt or you state/local social services agency.

How does food stamps work? If you don't have any income, but have 10k in the bank, do you qualify?
I am assuming that its like student aid, and you would get less or something for having assets.

Most, if not all, states will ask for your asset information. That includes bank accounts, stocks, certain valued vehicles, etc. I believe the cut off is low, under $5k unless you tell them that money will be spent soon (bills due or similar).
So no, you would not qualify. I don't know why the other person said only income. ...and fyi, they ask for that information and can access it even if you try to leave an account off.

the asset test is state based. many states have eliminated the asset test.cars are generally not assets for snap. there is no penalty for applying, the oc should apply if they think they may qualify.

I just switched over from annual membership to the discounted monthly. I had like 2 weeks left & they refunded me $3.84, so they'll automatically give the refund.
Did they automatically refund you or you had to contact customer service. I signed up for ebt monthly prime without cancelling my annual first so I'm wondering if I need to contact them

Amazon has offered half-price monthly prime memberships to SNAP card holders for at least the past five years. This is nothing new, but a sleazy way to convince people holding the P-EBT cards to spend their money on Amazon.

Question for people getting the maxium each month during the pandamic: Have you gotten yours yet this month? Last month I got on like the 17th and now nothing this month. Frown
I got mine in New York a few days ago. I think it was the 19th. I was worried theyw ouldn't continue it, but they did. Thankfully.

That's why I said most states. You also need to use a .gov website if you want to be sure you get reliable information about a government program. Though your link does seem to have the correct information regarding asset limits...directly from your link: Assets must fall below certain limits: households without a member who is elderly or has a disability must have assets of $2,250 or less, and households with such a member must have assets of $3,500 or less.

So in this case, that site seems to be up to date using the same information as the federal gov site https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/rec...ligibility which states:

What resources can I have and still get SNAP benefits? [usda.gov] Currently, households may have $2,250 in countable resources (such as cash or money in a bank account) or $3,500 in countable resources if at least one member of the household is age 60 or older, or is disabled. These amounts are updated annually.
However, certain resources are NOT counted when determining eligibility for SNAP:
  • A home and lot;
  • Resources of people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI);
  • Resources of people who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF; also known as welfare); and
  • Most retirement and pension plans (withdrawals from these accounts may count as either income or resources depending on how often they occur).

You can find detailed information about vehicles on that site as well as links for each state's SNAP websites.

What if I'm already a prime member?
as someone who lost their job due to COVID earlier this year and ended up on Medicaid, I input my information and was found eligible immediately. My annual Prime membership renewed May 2020, so I called customer service and was informed a partial refund of that annual membership was automatically processed. So in my case, I am receiving a refund of $84 and change and am now on the monthly plan. Thank you OP because I did not know such an offer existed until today!
