Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits card for 50% Amazon Prime

P-EBT relief cards are being issued nationwide. The EBT card issued may be used for Amazon's discount program with Prime for Medicaid/SNAP-benefits recipients. For those unaware, even non-traditional recipients may be eligible for P-EBT because school districts with school-wide free/reduced lunches are being issuing the benefit to all students in the district, not just students below the poverty line. More information about the program can be found at: https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/sta...c-ebt-pebt or you state/local social services agency.

Annual
Don't think there's much you can do, unless you can somehow get a refund for the remainder of the year or your year is almost up.

I got one of these cards but it's under my child's name, does the name have to match between the card and the amazon account?

It's monthly. It's always been monthly. $5.99 per month. No option for a yearly plan. I have been trying to get Amazon to make this offer the same as the yearly student discount since the discount program for EBT & Medicaid recipients started. The student discount is yearly and thus is cheaper than is plan. I guess Amazon's thinking is that if you are on SNAP/Medicaid, you can't afford to pay the yearly dues.

Please, please, please prove me wrong!

I don't know about Amazon's exact rules, but all P-EBT cards are issued under the minor child's name. So either they will have to allow the name mismatch or the Prime account will need to be opened under the child name.

No, they don't. I signed up with a family members Medicaid...he lives in my household though....so not sure if that makes a difference. All PEBT cards have the kids name on it. Here in Florida, they sent them to all students back in June, who aren't on food stamps, since we have a free lunch for all program and they weren't in school for 2-3 months that they'd normally be....so I'm assuming if this amazon discount works for PEBT cards, then a different name can be used for those too.

Personally, I'm curious as to if this post is referring to a new one they've started sending out for kids doing school at home...or if it's the same one that came out months ago.

I just switched over from annual membership to the discounted monthly. I had like 2 weeks left & they refunded me $3.84, so they'll automatically give the refund.
