Ughhhh, im on Intel PCIe gen 3, but i want to buy gen 4 for future proofing. Should I?
I'd say no. No point. Hardware isn't going to end support for gen3 pcie, the only reason anyone should spend the extra for gen4 is if they NEED the increased speed. 99% don't need

Hey no problem. I know how it is, the latest and greatest is always fun. However having wasted a lot of money on tech in the last few years, I can tell you more often than not, the 'high' wears off quick. It's fun to see that first benchmark but every time after, you are sitting there realizing you spent more money than necessary and can't even tell the difference. Take care

Amazon has Sabrent Internal Memory 20% off Today, but this one stands out to me. I've been looking for components for a new PC Build, and this is the best price I've seen for the 1TB NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2.

Planning to build a new PC between black friday and the new year (or whenever I can get a RTX 3080 at MSRP). Do you guys think waiting until black friday would be worth it since I will not use the drive until at least that date?

Yes. That's still 2 months away and BF deals. Definitely wait.

Thank you for helping me keep money in my wallet for 2 more months-I was leaning that way but the slickdeals receptors were triggering in my brain.

They will be supporting Gen4 with the 11th gen CPUs. If you got a 10th gen right now the 11th gen will fit in the z490 boards and some motherboards will support gen4 when there is a 11th gen CPU in there. The list of motherbaords so far that will support gen4 with the 11th gen CPU are listed in this article: https://wccftech.com/z490-motherb...-gigabyte/

What is the difference between the two "high performance" gen 3 versions? One is white, the other is black and there's $10 difference.

Edit: looks like QLC vs TLC, which I believe TLC is superior.
