So citi costco card gives extended warranty for non Costco purchases also?
Indeed it does, but I'm not 100% sure it works on open box items. I've heard conflicting reports that Citibank doesn't cover "used" items. However, the Citibank site says it covers "Purchases made with your Citi card that come with a manufacturer's warranty."

My Open Box showed 11 months of factory warranty remaining. I also used my Costco Citi Visa, so it "should" extend the warranty there as well.
Thanks! I have the Costco Citi card too. What's the coverage for non costco laptops? Wished costco carried some Ryzen 7 4800 laptops. Can't beat the 4 year warranty

edit nvm, saw your post above

Good catch, that can still be a deal killer for some.
This is the way to go. Save $150 and use it on RAM and storage upgrades. For the same price as new, you end up with 16GB RAM and 1TB + 512GB SSD.

Are you sure Visa will cover the warranty? Isn't the extended warranty only for New or Manufacturer Refurbs?

No, I'm not 100% sure Citibank Visa will extend the warranty. The Citi website says:
  • What's Covered: Purchases made with your Citi card that come with a manufacturer's warranty.
  • What's Not Covered: Used, antique or pre-owned items.

So to be on the safe side, people should probably make their purchases without expecting the Citi Visa extended warranty.

Is there any reason to go with the "Open-Box Excellent - Certified" over just the "Open-Box Excellent"?

Some places classify Open box as New while others as Preowned. And the 3rd party insurance these credit cards use they will try to find anything to avoid paying out a claim.

I have in the past ordered Certified. Had fingerprints and scratches (Speakers). Its a gamble, might as well go for the cheaper gamble.

I'm pretty happy with my walmart refurb Omen, especially when they credited me back ten percent. Occasionally comes back in stock at $644. It runs hot but I don't game and dialed it down to comfort level and added a nice laptop cooler for 45C temp. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Refurb...714838944?

This is the best laptop you can get for the price imo.

Legion is a better option. 8 Gb more. This one has a pretty bad keyboard. Very flimsy and weird layout. Also the sharp edge on the palmrest is a pain to use. The Legion tho is a bit heavier. This one isn't thin to begin with so the weight doesn't matter that much to me.

I agree, it runs hot and loud though even while web browsing.
