my sis works for corporate apple, she's gonna apply for the internal employee discount and buy it and give it to me free. Much needed upgrade from my apple watch 3.
Good for you. How does that help the readers ? Lol

I know Tim Cook personally and he has given me the apple watch 7 which comes in a round shape. 😂

Nope. If this is your first Apple Watch, you probably don't need it. Ask around and get some opinions.
Had it before. Didn't really use it. Won't buy it again.
If your iPhone is within Bluetooth range you can do 100% of the same things. For me, the only use case where I would want cellular is if I were taking a long hike - e.g., overnight backpack trip in the Rocky Mountains. But, in that situation, I would always want to have my phone as a backup. It would be nice to have both for emergencies.
If you wanted to listen to music, it's easy enough to just copy a playlist to your watch - for like a long run. Maybe there's a situation you need to listen to live streams when you're not near your phone - maybe a stock trader?
I think the person who needs cell capability in their Apple Watch is the fitness nut who's so important that they need to take calls anytime, anywhere, and not mind using a speakerphone. Sooooo, maybe a surgeon or a CEO of billion dollar company.
For me, I would rather listen to the podcast on 1.5x speed later.
I cannot imagine why I would ever buy the cellular feature in my watch.
I love my Apple Watches. I've owned one since they were introduced. I just bought the 6 space grey aluminum. Looking forward to the added features of the 6.
Get one, you'll love it.

I agree with your sentiments here. The only time I would have gotten cellular is for surfing where i would have cell signal on my wrist if something were to happen, and the only reason i wouldnt have my phone on me.
Even if you don't pay for service, cellular version lets you call 911 for free. I think that's worth the minimal extra cost. My wife loves to go for walks and doesn't want to carry her Xr with her.
FYI if you're used to wearing a quality timepiece, Apple Watch will feel like complete poverty to you. I had to return my series 5. If you normally don't wear a watch or have a timex, go for it.

How do you pick it up "today" when the watch has NOT released?

It's a cool gimmick I feel at best.
