Hard-wired, no battery. Which is great! My Ring Battery lasted a week and I had to spend $15 on a transformer.

Hardwire required: 16V-24V AC, ≥10VA

Capture visitors with 12-second videos and stores them in the cloud for rolling 14 days for free. If you don't pay Ring - you get nothing.

Ships January 2021

Look into Wyze Reddit. The company has failed massively with keeping their firmwares up to date.

Rather than improving their current system, they're chasing new products constantly. As someone who has 8+ Wyze cams, I can say that I am officially out of their system. It's now worth the hassle anymore

Try checking the area where your central heater is.
Actually there is one there and it matches the typical doorbell transformer pictures.
But someone online said it could be for the furnace. I guess I can try to disconnect it and check. Thanks

I was hoping this was wireless but it's hardwired. But then I started thinking if the regular wireless cam is $50 there is no way this would wireless as well at only $30

Depends on your use case, I suppose. A lot of people might have other cameras for the front door area already or just care about the porch e.g. stolen packages.

I will note that for $30, the price is a steal. It might not be as feature rich as some of the competitors, but if it's like their cameras, it will have decent video quality, local storage (so no subscription fees), and work reliably.

Just remember, this product might not be for you, but it lowers the barrier of entry to people who might otherwise not consider a smart doorbell, and contrary to the FUD, Wyze has a pretty good track record of delivering functional products.
It doesn't have local storage that's why is no go for me

A lot of users gave their recently released Wyze Outdoor camera pretty bad reviews. Hopefully this would do better since it's just a WyzeCam with a button. Shame that they decided not to go with onboard human detection and using subscription based cloud AI instead. I'm shocked that there's no SDCard slot because WyzeCam has a 5 minute cooldown for the free cloud recordings. If it gets triggered then it won't record anything else for 5 minutes. With a SDCard at least you can keep recording for free, Wyze is definitely trying to push their cloud subscription since this is worse than WyzeCam v2.

Why do people want wireless battery doorbells so bad? Almost all houses come with doorbell wiring and it's not difficult to upgrade your transformer if you have a really old house. Battery powered cameras have down sides because they use PIR sensor so anything has a heat signature would set it off.

For the price and the hopes they follow through on firmware update to 2k video, I'll gamble.

Resolution / Video Definition
By launch: [1080p] 1296 x 1728 and [480p] 480 x 640
Future OTA: [2K] 1536 x 2046

Remember to flip the breakers before messing around with electrical!
Even though the output of the transformer is low-voltage, the input is NOT!

Stay safe

Wow, the fact that Wyze is making their "tall" 3:4 aspect ratio a selling point is insulting. The wide angle view is what makes other doorbell cameras helpful for security.
I think it's accurate to claim that as a selling point. I don't know what sensor they are using, but most sensors are in the 4:3 (some maybe even 1:1) format, but they just output a picture that's 16:9 because that's what people are used to and it fills out the screen nicely. They're just giving you a 4:3 image with the top and bottom cut off, so you're actually loosing resolution.

Just like on you phone's camera, you should have an option for 4:3 or 16:9 images. You'll notice that the 4:3 is taking advantage of the full resolution, and the 16:9 is lower resolution which is just a zoomed in version of the 4:3 without the top and bottom.

I'd rather have the extra picture from the 4:3 and zoom in myself.

Wonder if they will ever be able to push video to echo show on a button press.

Any idea how I can track down the transformer? I have no idea where it is and my prior Skybell had to be returned because I needed to attach the fuse.
Check your garage or closets. My moms house had the transformer in the hall closet hidden on top. Use a flash light.

I'd wait. Wyze cams are awesome but they messed up the Wyze cam outdoor. Notification and face recognition is fubar'd on that product. If you need a basic no frills doorbell cam, go for it. But if you want any features, I'd wait until review comes out. But $30 is a good price, but I question the lack of local storage or storage on the base unit like the WCO.

It should have wireless or else won't be able to send clips to cloud.
I meant for the hookup. It needs to be hardwired into the existing doorbell wiring.

Power Method for doorbell
Hardwire required: 16V-24V AC, ≥10VA
Power with existing doorbell-chime circuit, or use a standalone transformer and wires.

Looks promising for the money if the software works well.

I've got a RemoBell S on one of my doors and I'm really disappointed for $100 dollars. It fires off false motion alerts all the time. The worst thing is it doesn't distinguish motion alerts and alerts for someone actually pushing the button. I've had people push the button and not known because it just looks like one of the 50 motion alerts. If I could set it to just automatically go full screen when the button is pushed I would.
