Bestbuy has the steelbook edition of Cowboy Bebop at a reduced price. Nothing new added to the previous blu-ray release. Picture and sound are great and is at the original 4x3 ratio.

Amazon also price matched this deal.

My attention for anime was captured by Gatchaman (G-Force: Battle of the Planets) or whatever they called it in the US... anyone else remember this?

G-Force Intro

Back in 1978...

Yes, Robotech and Voltron and others continued the influence in the USA... but for me this was the first...
Wow I had forgotten about G force. Robotech was my jam back in 1983.

I have it on DVD from like 16 years ago and a fully subbed+dubbed mkv version on computer. Any reason to get this on bluray? I have PS5 preordered...

Does this one contain the uncensored scenes?

No, unfortunately. These are just nice quality BluRays in a sweet aluminum case. They have a code for a digital copy too.
I believe the digital copy redeems on Funimation's site. One benefit with Funimation is you have the option to watch with the original Japanese audio track, and you can toggle English subtitles (actually English CC) even if watching the English dub.

Or Pokemon or Naruto.
Nah, DBZ was way popular before Naruto episodes even came out... Pokémon, was more like afternoon cartoon then anime - at least when it was airing on TV

Cowboy beebop, sailor moon...lol those were 90s shows and were good but didn't turn the 'west' in to anime fans. Akira, Curse of the Undead Yoma, Vampire Hunter D and Windaria (If you are old enough to remember Windaria and when it was released without looking it up, then you are a TRUE anime fan) were VERY good flicks and the west was already introduced to anime and it's wonders. Thanks for the link OP! It's a gem for sure!

Naruto? It was popular, sure, but DBZ had been on tv in the US for 10 years by the time Naruto showed up. Never mind Bebop, Sailor Moon, Trigun, Gundam, Yu Yu Hakusho, etc
Oh Please! It was Robotech, Star Blazers & Battle of the Planets. You guys aren't even hitting the right era or generation.
Peace

This show seems responsible for making anime popular in the West.
