5.0 aptx and usb-c for $16... what's the catch? in for one thanks op
The catch?
Good earbud/speaker require good source and good sound reproduction.
Now there is a good source using qualcomm chip with atprx.
Then where to cut cost? Back to the basic sound 101 the speaker drivers...

Unless we put the earbud for measurement, sound quality is subjective to most people and each one's satisfactory level varies a lot.
Recently been visiting this site and learnt a lot more about measurement... getting quality sound is not just snapping parts together.
https://www.audiosciencereview.com/

Some people just need there is some sound, some pay more for good sound, some pay even more for excellent sound, some pay an arm for marketing

You are 100% correct what Amazon is doing to get positive feedback. They will not even post negative feedback on items that have been given to customers and exchange for 4 to 5 star review. I did that once, never again. Be warned people
2 products I ordered recently came with a card inside saying free gift for posting reviews.
Of course, you have to give them the link of your review (for approval?) before they will ship out the free gift.

Well, both product I'm quite satisfied so I don't mind doing that.
But I wonder if they will send out gift if it's negative.

first of all, this is bluetooth. so the idea that you are going to hear detail is out of the window. you are going to have to pay $300+ for that. for 99% of the people this is great quality puds for running in the park, working out in the gym, or zoom call.

when motorola bluetooth headphone first came out i payed $90. my sister purchased $22 no name brand headphone that made my motorola sound like garbage. i purchased same headphones that my sister got and i have been using it for 3 years now.

lesson: high price does not give you quality. and low price is not necessary bad.
I was of the same opinion as you regarding Bluetooth until another SD user recommended the FiiO BTR5 to me. Found it on Amazon for $82 and bit. Forget aptX. LDAC is king. I couldn't believe Bluetooth could sound like a wired set up but I am a believer now.

They sound like crap. There is more to headphone design then just throwing a Qualcomm chip in and including a small battery and usb-c port. Manufacturers are literally giving headphones like these away for free in exchange for positive reviews on Amazon.
Well THAT'S neat. I love FREE. link please??

For $17, I'll try them...
I got these (twice) in the prior deals. You really can't beat them for $17. Sound quality almost as good as my Jabra 65T. Superior battery life, superior case vs Jabra. Really a steal at this price.

Funny how the Chinese are making knock offs of other Chinese products. They probably even come out if the same factories with minor cosmetic changes.
That's how up & coming Chinese companies can innovate faster and at a lower cost. No such thing as petents or IP. Overall good for consumers.

If it's a common practice, why would the quality be bad if it's the same as the licensed ones???
Corner-cutting, zero QA, reuse of defective parts, unqualified workers, substituted components and materials...

Search "ghost shift China" for some fascinating reading, or deep dive into technical details with an old blog post by Bunnie Huang. [bunniestudios.com]

What we're seeing now is another iteration of ghost shifts, except instead of flying under the radar inside the same factory, they set up shop like a Halloween store in an old Blockbuster. So it's not counterfeits now, just a semi-temporary corp that appears to be selling their own product. Some cash on the side, quick schematics, run off a bunch, maybe pick a name that resembles an established brand.

Give a lot away in exchange for positive reviews, sell a bunch on the strength of positive reviews, eventually either go mainstream or evaporate. Collapse reviews from one product into another, churn out cheap and plenty, disappear. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I have friend sell on eBay. A lot those seller are manufacture themselves, when another company order 100k product, the factory will order 20% more raw materials to products the product. With all the QA and inspection there will be 10% extra product factory can sell for low price.

Wow. I know this is slickdeals, but damn, there are a lot of cheap bastards with high expectations for $16. Personally, as long as they work ok, I'll be happy. I drop and lose these true wireless buds all the time, hence buying them cheap. I've dropped my Sound Peats multiple times and they're starting to crack open now. They still work, but a $16 extra full set wouldn't hurt. I'd pooh a brick if I lost a bud for a $200 set.

I got it the last time it went on sale, nice case, usb-c was a plus. don't get fooled by changing case to charge your other electronic device beside the earbud, it will not work. I have tried. but it will charge your earbud. sound is not bad, good high and bass. All of these cheap end ear bud is bad for phone calls. I have tried so many different companies like more than 16 of them under $50. some are good some are bad, really bad for sounding, but all of them were bad for phone call conversation. but for the morst part, the music was good. I am using this as sound block and listenning to the music during grass cut. battery indicator is nice. for $17 is good price.

If any of us regular users posted this deal, it would be pulled down.
Less than 1000 seller reviews (SD's minimum). Barely over 50 product reviews (SD's minimum). So don't do as SD does posting 3rd party deals from AMZ. They research very carefully before they bend their own posting rules though, so I'm sure you're fine.
