Is there any chance Chase will extend this feature or are they losing too much money for easy redemptions?

Hope they extend - it's been great using points which otherwise would have been spent on travel (which of course no one is doing.) Maybe they'll have a different offer for Q4.

Now that freedom unlimited has 3% on restaurants and pay yourself back is going away... is there a reason I should still hold onto the sapphire preferred? Seems like a needless annual fee now

Only for the travel redemption perks. Although I personally plan on using all my points so I can close out my Reserve card. I'll reopen it again when I build up more points via Freedom Unlimited.

Yup I used up all my points buying gc back in June at the grocery store. CSP card which I used exclusively for food/dining now seems useless with freedom unlimited giving 3% vs 2%

Is the original Chase Freedom card now obsolete? Is there any benefit to keeping that over the Chase Freedom Unlimited?

50% bonus for an easy redemption can't be good for Chase. if I were you, I would cash out now while you have the chance.

yes, few weeks/months back. Very smart of Chase to do this, IMHO. Prior pandemics, many Chase SAP( bother versions) holders would redeem for travel( Cannot beat 120k/150k for a round trip business class overseas). Now such presents a challenge, and more are spending on grocery, Chase pivoted its marketing, to retain/expand its clients basis.

I was going to keep my pts/miles to redeem for biz class, but figured might as well cash out some of them as Airline tend to devalue the miles over time.

Seems like a good deal. How come not much love?
Since it's the same 1.5x as travel, why not just cash them all out now then next time when you need to use for travel you have more option using credit card?
