I read the Q&A section on the Target product and it's conflicting. One says that you can use it for refill. The other one says it's only for new customers.

Yes, straight from Red Pocket themselves, it's GSMA... https://help.redpocket.com/hc/en-...Target-SIM
"Our pre-loaded SIMs are available on the GSMA network."

Looking at the page referenced above and https://help.redpocket.com/hc/en-...e-SIM-card, it looks like the plan is attached to the SIM, unlike the eBay plan, where you get a separate activation code, so I'm not sure how you'd add it to an existing account. Maybe if you specify that you want to port in a number and specify your existing Red Pocket number, then it extends the current plan instead, but that's not clear. I guess the big question now is whether or not these SIMs have to be activated within a certain time period. The eBay plans have to be activated within 90 days, but some operators have different policies for cards purchased at retail locations.
Last year I purchased an ebay plan, and used it to renew my existing plan 6 months later.

They used to have a longer activation period, but shorted it to 90 days at some point last year. You probably purchased it before that change was made.

Anyone know of any similar deals on Verizon network? My GV always seems to work best on V.

No, there was already a 90 day limit. I called them and they assured me I could use it to renew my existing plan, and I was able to do that.

Well, then you're taking your chances as to whether or not they continue to honor that, as it's clearly stated in their terms & conditions that they may expire the code if it's not activated in 90 days.

I just chatted with RP and asked if the Target Sim with Plan can be used to renew existing plans.

Answer: The plan is good for new activation only and cannot be use for refills or renewals

Good thing I asked before driving 14 miles to Target.

I dont think it can be use to refill. When I buy it, cashier cannot activate. Must come back for tech station activate it. So, the plan lock with SIM ICCID. Not like ebay they give you seperate SIM ICCID and activate code.

I queried on chat about activating new and porting in. They said I could do that.

Asked about post 90 days from purchase.

Answer: It would be better to activate it within 90 days from the purchase date but as long as you have the invoice receipt, all is good and can be use within 1 year

Word of caution: Their technical support is ducked up. No help at all. Learned the hard way.

Target plans are not refundable the moment you activate the plan. Ebay plans have a sh!t limit before it can be returned for refund.

Thanks for getting the answer for that. It's a bit of an interesting answer, with the reference to having the invoice. To me, that sounds like they "may" expire it after 90 days, but would reactivate it if you contacted them with proof of purchase before 1 year.

Now they are saying:

"The target plan can only be used when you are activating a new number or porting a number from a different carrier."

Apparently the Target plan is different from the ebay plans.

Well, that's pretty typical of prepaid plans, where you're throttled to snail-like speeds after using your data allowance for the month (5 GB for this plan.) I guess it makes people feel better than being totally cut off, but it's not really useful in practice.
