Is there much value here?

I had a free 3-month membership earlier this year, and thought the quality of available selections were quite poor.
I'll do KU when it's a free trial or a maybe a couple bucks a month. If you were to compare their quality of books to movies, the selection at KU would be equivalent to Lifetime or the Hallmark channel. It's not Netflix or HBO.

As someone who works at a public library, I recommend stopping by sometime! You can order any book or other media and check them out for free when they come in; and most libraries have lifted fees and holds on accounts. In addition, there's Libby, OverDrive, and other online resources through libraries that are free. So I'd much rather support local libraries than Amazon, especially when it doesn't cost you a thing.
The Libraries have been closed here since March, right when I have all this free time to read.

There were a couple older titles that I wanted to read so I thought I'd check them out through OverDrive, and they both had long waiting lists. I don't get why there's a waiting list for a 10+ year-old Digital book. Is the whole State sharing the rights to one ebook?

Can confirm this works perfectly. Enter your email address in the recipient field, choose payment type, confirm. Check your email and click the activation link and then confirm on the webpage. It'll then take you to your Kindle Unlimited subscription management page. If you have a current sub it'll show two lines for subs: One that is current and the expiration date, as well as the gift terms. I'm now paid through April 2021.

Worked great. Mine was expiring in a week.

Hi all,

Can confirm you can gift this to yourself, multiple time!
https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs...29%2C+2020
  1. I used that link.
  2. I entered my email, which is the same email on the account I was logged into.
  3. I bought a single six month membership and gifted it to same email.
  4. I then purchased a second gift membership with same email.
  5. I logged onto the email account I gifted, opened the amazon email and clicked redeem button in email.
  6. I did the same as above with 2nd email

My membership was ending soon so I clicked on cancel today to see if I could qualify for this offer, and I was given a pop up offer for 3 months for 9.99 which is better than 6 months for 29.99, so I accepted.
Just did the same! Thank you.

I just signed up with this (directly, my membership had expired a few weeks ago) without issue, then went to cancel (I do this with almost any subscription unless I'm 100% going to keep it) and I got the 3 month for $10 offer too. Now good through June 29, 2021.

I then went back in and cancelled.

+1 to this. I always try Overdrive for an e-book first before supporting Amazon
I try, and I'm amazed by how many times my libraries do NOT have the book I'd like. I have cards at two different libraries, I use both Libby and Overdrive, and still have to supplement with Amazon. If the book I'm desperate to read isn't carried in my libraries and unavailable for free with Prime, but IS available to buy at say $10.99 (uggh) - I'm way better off with a deal like this than the usual $9.99/month, which I can't bring myself to pay. Oh and my library has a limit of only 10 holds (double uggh!). I wanna stack my hold list up like a mutha, man I don't wanna be limited to only ten titles.

Guess what I'm saying is - sure, libraries firs,t but stop hatin on the Kindle Unlimited offer at a discount - it has it's value.

Bonus, you can always check Overdrive at the same time -- there's a browser plugin that modifies Amazon's page (and many of the other book sites) to do a lookup in your selected Overdrive libraries. https://www.libraryextension.com/

And you can leverage it with KU too.
