This is more than my rent every month, just curious, What exactly makes people spend this much or more on something that just tells the time?

It's just a fashion accessory. Why do some purses cost $5000 when a grocery bag does the same thing?

I have watches that retail for $22,000. It's all relative.

Thats a way of thinking of people who can not afford it, if you would make more money you would think differently.

(Not being a jerk)

It's a luxury item, for one. Same reason why a Hermès handbag can cost $30,000. Although from a timepiece hierarchy perspective, Corum isn't super premium, but it is fairly high end.

But along with that, it's mostly made in Switzerland, likely assembled by hand. Materials used are of fairly high quality etc etc.

For anyone thinking of buying one, I have a 42mm Admirals Cup that's perfect for my 6.75 wrist, this watch is substantially larger than that. If you can pull off the size, it's a decent deal.

They have disposable income to support a hobby. Nobody really needs this, but some folks enjoy mechanical watches

Oh yeah, cause people who come to slickdeals are the same people who waste 20k for clout. Of course.

Why drive a tesla when you can drive a prius, why live in a $million home when you can live in a trailer. Why stay at a 5star hotel when you can camp out for free? Why eat sushi when you can get $1 menu at mcdonalds? Tell me why!

there are $40 watches that are indistinguishable from this.
i get it. i collect watches. i own about 15 and I'm fairly picky. most expensive is 11,000 and you wouldn't mistake it for a cheaper one. most common ones are under 200 but unique or look like they be worth far more.
but you've all gone insane if paying 1800 for something like this bc it's "marked down" is a slick deal.

is it something in its guts that warrants the price? will watch connoisseurs see this and fangirl over it? smh but genuinely willing to understand why I'm wrong!
