The good old 75 foot tv we all need but do not deserve
If only this had HDMI 2.1....
Well at 75 FEET, it probably didn't fit in most houses, hence why the returns.

MSRP was high to begin with, I'll save up for next Gen.

Your price for this item is $1,499.99
Save $1500
Was $2,999.99

all it needs is the new TCL AiPQ Engine Gen 2 chipset https://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/n/TCL-...sor-at-IFA TCL didn't reveal the specifics of how its chip works, and it hasn't said anything yet about which TVs will feature the new processor. But the news does seem to confirm TCL's plans to continue launching new, premium QLED and Mini-LED TVs powered by its new AiPQ Engine Gen 2 chip. Hopefully, the company will continue to with its policy of making its high-end TVs more affordable, too.

A lot of open box ( returns) available as well.....

Probably not a good sign for a TV that I dont think is exactly killing sales records

Other than the black crush ..what inherent flaws does this TV have?

I am not sure if a 75 FEET TV will fit in any house.

This doesn't use edge lit backlighting. It is full array.
It's a Full Array Mini LED has more zones than a standard Full Array

I had bad banding on my first set and I got it replaced by TCL and now have a great screen with no banding. It's hit or miss on the screen lottery. Also no HDMI 2.1 is a bummer

While it has local dimming, it doesn't appear that the execution is all that good.

Watch the Rtings local dimming test from 45 seconds in [youtu.be]. In the last example, the bright object basically disappears.

They also link to a video [youtube.com] of the intro to Our Planet which I think shows pulsing around dark areas next to highlights (look south of Italy), but I'm not sure if that's what it was meant to highlight.

Full Rtings review here [rtings.com].

We were all primed to upgrade, and I had this (as well as the TCL R625) at the top of my list, but now I think we're going to hold off. This is the historic sale price for this unit, so I expect it to come back if we change our mind.

Might be holding off for the Samsung Q80/Q80T/Q8DT and just pay the extra $500.

Returns mean panel uniformity issues or DSE.

The bigger the TV...the harder to keep uniformity.

If you can get a good panel...you are good to go.

You have plenty of time to return your TV at best buy since DSE issues will show up within 30 days.

However, you need to return the TV in 14 days. You will also receive a return mark on your record at Best Buy.
