This could be targeted, not sure. Shows 'Prime Discount' of $20 off to get it from $80 to $60.

Is this gen2 or gen3?
Gen 3 Smilie works great, hooked into solar panel no issues.
I also have a gen 2 I am replacing with one of these gen 3's to get better infrared.

We recently have had some dog walkers who are letting their dogs use the restroom in our yard as well as all over the place. Part of me thinks for 60 bucks this will at least answer the question of who is doing the doo. What I will do with that info, I don't know. I just know it is too far for my door bell rign to record or turn on as well as our camera/floodlight on the garage. Our garage is set way back on our lot.

My plan is to have the camera record to the cloud and when I find some poop, I will roll back the footage and look. I won't be using the instant notifications. Will this serve my goal of finding out who is doing it? I see what you all have said about the night vision not working poorly and all but I am not looking to read license plates.

It is not often 60 bucks can solve a problem. I was thinking of zip tying it to a tree.

I am being 100% serious. This has gone on too long.

Do the cameras work on their own or do you need a hub?

I am in the process of adding security camera to my house. I purchased this one, but before the installation, I changed my mind. Without the subscription this one only works as a live view camera.

There are some other cameras, mainly rebranded hikvision or dahua, can do SD card recording. Since I will install them under the roof of a 2-story house, it is pretty secure and low-cost. No need to have a recording device any more. And even there is a break in, I doubt they will try to get a very high ladder to reach the camera/sd card.

Just my 2 cents.

Battery version is garbage. It is totally different from wired version. Wired version has motion zones. Motion zones is more accurate and efficient than battery version. If you don't want random false alert. Avoid battery version at all cost!
There are motion zones on the battery version too. What are you talking about?

From what I can tell, there are two types of motion zones depending on how your Ring device is powered. The battery powered Ring devices use three pre-defined motion zones: Left, Middle, and Right. You can specify which, if any, you want to enable. For plugged-in Ring devices, you can draw your own motion zone boundaries.

For example, with my Ring Doorbell Pro, I've drawn a custom zone to only trigger for the stairs leading up my front door and the porch area. I previously had an older Ring doorbell model that didn't have any motion zones and I would get false alarms for cars passing by, which made it useless for me. The custom motion zones was a game-changer for my situation, but YMMV depending on your use cases and environment.

I have one on my tree right now.

You are not being ridiculous - YOUR NEIGHBORS are.
Go for it, I've already used mine in a few situations.

Good luck!!!

Wonder if there will be better deal on Prime day in 12 days or so?
I'm still debating between this and the new Wyze battery cam...their subscription is cheaper than ring.

Wait wait wait. Is the problem that no one is picking up after the dogs or just that they're going on your lawn? Owners/walkers can't control where their dogs go. People take their dogs for walks, where do you expect them to go? In the street?

Lol i walk my dog 3 times a day and 9/10 times he's going on one of my neighbors front lawns and I'm picking it up.

Don't want dogs going on your lawn? Put a fence up. Otherwise, anything green is fair game.
Take your dog to your front yard to poop and pee first and then go for a walk.

Haven't heard the word hub in a while! You do need a (Wifi) router to have any practical use of it - live view and/or Cloud storage.
