This could be targeted, not sure. Shows 'Prime Discount' of $20 off to get it from $80 to $60.

I am in the process of adding security camera to my house. I purchased this one, but before the installation, I changed my mind. Without the subscription this one only works as a live view camera.

There are some other cameras, mainly rebranded hikvision or dahua, can do SD card recording. Since I will install them under the roof of a 2-story house, it is pretty secure and low-cost. No need to have a recording device any more. And even there is a break in, I doubt they will try to get a very high ladder to reach the camera/sd card.

Just my 2 cents.
During a break-in, wouldn't the intruder have access to your balcony and thus no ladder needed? Unless you also have to use a ladder to retrieve your SD card periodically?!! Anyway, glad you find a way that works for your situation.

Dogs use the restroom, owners don't pick it up. Sad, I know.

I agree it will be case by case. For my case, the long ladder is always needed to access the camera.

For normal use, you don't need to reach the sd card. You can see the clips using your phone or pc. For this purpose, I always use high-endurance card with max capacity, and set my video to h265 to compress the size.

Does anyone know if these cameras can be viewed in Blue Iris, or does it have to use the Ring software?

I have this battery-powered one and the USB-powered one. Both send their picture over WiFi. The USB-powered camera has much better functionality and specs, totally worth its price, $120 on BF. It detects motion by constantly scanning changes in the picture image and the detection distance is practically unlimited, like 100 yards. On the battery-powered camera the detection distance is only 8 yards. The angle of view is narrower, the colors are worse and there is a lag between the motion detected and the recording started. Net, buy this camera ONLY IF YOU CANNOT have an external USB ( typically meaning 110V receptacle nearby) or over-the-network power source.

It is listed as Stick Up Gen 2, so it'll be the one that looks like the now branded Elite. It will have the Ethernet hookup for PoE. The Gen 3 stick up is the current one without the Ethernet port and different mount. I prefer this one over the Gen 3 personally
Battery version doesn't have PoE. I know, I bought one last week and it just arrived. Only the wired version (without battery) has PoE.

I bought one last week for 79.99. Contacted Amazon for price drop refund, but they refused. Any other way to get the better price aside from return-rebuy?

Three I ordered just came. Two are still attached to previous owners. I called ring support and they said the best way to solve the issue was TO RETURN THEM BACK TO AMAZON. What a crock of shlt.

Couldn't verify personally, but one of the reviewers said he has successfully re-registered the cam under his account. Worth a try:

Ok I read the reviews a lot of people are sending these back because the device says registered to another owner when you scan the QR code please do not send it back set it up manually in the ring app select setup a new device dont scan the QR CODE select setup without scanning and Follow the steps it will ask to to connect to WiFi select ring WiFi and then select your WiFi when it prompts you to follow all the steps there after it will walk you through it love my devices I'm sure you will toI Also get a power drill it doesn't have to be expensive it makes the task of setup so so much easier

perhaps, but notice i never called myself an expert, though i have a Masters Degree in CyberSecurity and multiple certifications, I am still learning, but I am a "guy" who is strongly interested in it. also being in the IT field for over 10 years helps as well. But anyone who calls themselves an expert most likely isnt. The more you learn, the more you realize you don't know.
