Love these sets. We put them around the Christmas tree every year now too. Good stuff.

Isn't it better to just save yo money and get the Lego train sets instead? I feel like all the Duplo I've purchased gets stir-fried into a giant wok of blocks with pieces from different sets all mixed together. I can't rebuild anything, and my girls are 4 and 1. At least with the train sets the parents can hide them and enjoy them, then the kids can play with them when they're older. I feel like the Duplo will have no replay value once they graduate to Lego, and they certainly can't enjoy them for what it is currently. Opinions?

These trains are awesome. My 3yo loves the bigger set we got him, the cargo train. Might get this one, too.

FYI the normal duplo trains are completely different than these. These are electric, interact with blocks you place, and are bluetooth enabled. I probably have just as much fun as he does.

With this price i would say get Lego trains, but those are pretty complex / small. If your 4 year old have started with Legos already it should be okay, just be ready to rebuild them when they get destroyed by the little one. In comparison though, the train sets for Lego rarely go on sale and are $160+. The new power up hub by itself is $50 and train wheels is like $15. It is bluetooth enabled like the Duplo so you dont "need" the controller.

I got the Duplos because i got it for way cheaper. But dont sweat it either if you like Duplos, they are trains so they do last a bit more than 6 years old i think, and it still work well as Christmas trains around the tree.

I too have a 4 and 1 yo. They like to play with the duplo and its not a chocking hazzard like Lego is for the 1
yo. I have tons of lego waiting for them when they are older. I have to say I was thrilled that my parents kept my duplos from childhood that way my kids can enjoy them. So just stow them away and your grandkids will love you for it. They only go up in price it seems.

I just picked this up for my son from the LEGO store full price and honestly, unlike most DUPLO sets, this is worth every penny even at full price. Not a ton of blocks BUT the train itself is super neat with little tiles you can move around to add different actions to the train.

Yeah I've played with it too so what?

I absolutely disagree. My kids are 8, 6, 2, and 8 months. My two oldest boys play legos allll the time. Duplos, though, are the one toy ALL of us have fun playing with together. We have a pretty large bin of them, and we don't rebuild sets, just build whatever. I'm keeping these forever.

It's a $6 savings, if you were not planning on buying these, don't do it just to "save" $6. Buy stuff you actually want.

This set is GOAT - it was clear from the description and did not disappoint. I'd contest it's hard to find a more fully featured train (characters/scene, bluetooth, action blocks) at this price.
