I have this tablet and dock. Bought through vip outlet on eBay when they had a big sale off 1 tech item was around $55. Bought it as an impulse purchase to see what it can and can't do to control my smart home.

It has a version of the Google home hub but not the same. Whenever it is docked, it will go to that hub mode which allows you to use "hey Google" to control devices in your home. It does allow me to control smart lights (Phillips hue) on the bottom row of the docked home hub view with a single touch. This has been a big selling point for me instead of buying another Phillips hue remote. I have eufy doorbell and security cameras and this does not stream them at the moment. I don't know if it's a glitch or it's trying to stream them but if I ask it to show me the front door it struggles and then quits. I have to open the eufy app to get it to show. It will not automatically show the doorbell when someone rings it. I believe you will need a home hub in order for it to do that. This has more of the options of a chrome cast in that regard where you have to ask it to cast it in a sense.

Build quality is pretty good. Aluminum back and sturdy. Screen quality is okay but not great. Speakers get loud but not a lot of bass compared to something like an iPad Pro. They are rear firing but enough comes forward to listen to dialogue of anything you're watching/listening. It does lag switching from app to app. When you're in a particular app, it works fine but navigating through ui to switch back and forth through things it's pretty slow.

My main use case with this has been a multimedia remote to go through guides on sling, find videos on Netflix, Hulu etc and cast them. It's also nice to have a random tablet to pick up in my living room that lives on a dock whenever I want to search something. I pass this around with family and friends when ordering food so people can browse menus/add to the order. The battery life is great and can sit off the charger for days if using it occasionally. As a smart home remote, it's perfect for my needs.

That being said, if you're trying to use it for something more comprehensive for either work or gaming, please save up and get the new base model ipad or android equivalent. This won't cut it.
This appears to be a decent alternative to the Fire HD 8 / Plus -- similar specs, but includes a dock and stock Android (no need to sideload). I do wonder if it is hands-free Alexa capable, but sounds unlikely. Seems like the go-to if you are a Google home though.

Yeah, but it comes with a dock, so I don't really mind.

Resolution makes huge difference. $20 more you can get FHD.

I wanted to put a nest hub by my front door wall-mounted, but the current home hub angled design doesn't work well for what I'm looking for. I wonder if this would work better? Would need to modify the dock but still

Yeah, its vanilla Android, so it comes with Google Play store installed and access to all the apps you just mentioned.
