FYI, these units don't appear to be as powerful as the ones released last year, and they removed the smart speaker option.

They are not. But each node has an ethernet port, making backhauling much more streamlined (that is what I use today).

Not bad I guess, but keep in mind these only are AC1200(per Google's tech specs) which is just OK for this price point.

Has the app improved?

Tried Google Wifi about a year ago and was underwhelmed by the app interface and advanced settings.
Ended up going with TP-Link Deco M9 because of especially good deal and am mostly happy? But still somewhat underwhelmed by mesh setups. Have NOT setup hard line ethernet backhaul...but that need undercuts the concept/selling point of mesh in my mind.

Question for the experts. Would you 1) get this Google WiFi set? 2) Google Nest set? 3) the upcoming Eero 6 3 pack to be released in 3 weeks? Or 4) a TP Link WiFi 6 AX1800 2 pack?

If you can live with one router do that
If you are going with mesh you only want to buy routers
This is probably the best option for mesh for most people who want to do as little as possible.

However, don't buy it. You really only want to buy routers about a year after release.

Wait for this to go to 229 or below. It would be best if you wired a backhaul if possible.

Whoa is this 3 pack as in 3 routers with backhaul capability? Or 1 router and 2 points?

These units can act as either a router or access point, you choose it's functionality during setup.

Is this newer model than nest WiFi? Why did google go back and refreshed older model? I don't understand their product strategy.

Does anybody know difference between this and older google WiFi.
