This is expensive for these Pixma printers. It's a super low quality throwaway printer, it's really only good for printing documents for a year or so, before they clog up forever. And ink is more expensive than the printer.

I have bought several for $19 over the years and stock up whenever they are on sale. $49 is definitely not a good price. Walmart had them for $17 last month. You just have to set an in stock alert for them.

Are they that bad? The MSRP does seem to suggest what your saying.

Yes, it is intended for home.

Also, the main Walmart one has Fax. The others don't.

This printer, and its siblings, is notorious for being terrible. But also almost permanently on sale. You can find it several times a year for under 20 bucks.

I use it to print Ebay labels. If you are looking for a halfway decent photo printer, this is a bad choice.

does it at least have generic toners?

i feel like all home printers are horrendous in general.
my brothers been going strong and i kinda like it but only because theres generic toners available and theres a cheat to make printer think it has ink.

ie. the stupid crap wont even print b&w unless you have all color cartridges and they have ink in them.

also, itll constantly say you're out of ink also when you can still print hundreds and hundreds of pages out of it. (again you have to cheat the printer or fool it to think like it has some ink).

like i seriously want to burn the shit just thinking about it, by far the worst implementation of any business/product design.

Does the scan functionality still work once it's clogged up?
