Looks shoddy and reviews confirm it.

There are some Chinese companies that hit up veteran SD'ers via PM or email and offer them cash for shilling their junk deals like these. I have been messaged several times, but never bother responding. I'm not saying this is the case here and I'm not accusing anyone - maybe OP just posted the deal quickly without researching the product or competitor prices.

If you want a cheap ricer, there are plenty of amazon rebate sites that have them for free or at most $5 (after rebate via paypal or check). They don't require you leave reviews, so they are within amazon's TOS. Their ricers are probably cheap Chinese knock-offs, too, but at least products on those sites almost always have satisfaction guarantees if the thing is complete junk.

You can buy these at ikea for like $8 or $9. I know some people literally only shop on amazon but it is worth considering that sometimes their deals are not really great deals. I have that one and the hinges have worked just fine so far. I've even probably stressed it a bit.

Stacked the code with a $10 off prime day deal. $2.65 for the risk of it being garbage.... I'll take it.

I have the Ikea one and clicked on this because I'm looking to replace it. The problem with the Ikea one is that it has holes on the sides of the chamber as well as the bottom. I find that when I'm running potatoes through it, for example, that it can make a bit of a mess, with little bits of potatoes shooting out the side holes. It also doesn't have the little tab on the front to allow you to set in on top of a bowl, which isn't too useful for operating it, but is very handy when when you set it down or reload it.

Best use for these is to make spaghetti ice cream. Don't screw around with potatoes lol.
Put a couple scoops not too deeply frozen vanilla ice cream in the press, squeeze it out over a bed of whipped cream on a plate. Add strawberry sauce over it and put some white chocolate shavings on top. Best ice cream dish ever Smilie
