Use Chase Credit Card 5% Cash Back Offer on up to $1,500 in combined purchases when using PayPayl from 10/1/2020 – 12/31/2020.

If ordering "Renewal / Existing SIM," use an address from a tax free state to skip taxes on eBay

Clarifying Details from Red Pocket customer support rep CS Karl on 12-Oct.
  • Hotspot Tethering on CDMA: "We do apologize please be advise that we only support hotspot /tethering on our CDMA network for IOS devices." (implying android does not support tethering on the CDMA)
  • Upgrading your old plan to this one: "You need to upgrade it on the expiration date of the each of the plan, because if you will upgrade it today it will apply right away and remaining days for the current plans will be gone or forfeited"
  • How long do we have to activate this plan/SIM? "Please be advise that activations for the annual plan has a Expiration date of 90 days" (implying that if your renewal date is more than 90 days away from your purchase date, you may want to wait for the next sale)
  • Does our old 5GB plan have 7GB now or still 5GB? "Although the 5gb plan I purchased Black Friday 2019 now shows as a 7gb plan on the "My Lines" summary page, the actual remaining capacity is only 5gb per month when they calculate it." Karl indicated " it will become 7GB on the renewal date" --ChronoTriggered: "My 5GB now shows I have 7GB per month with 6GB remaining, so I believe it was upgraded."
  • Is this truly Unlimited Data? "Unlimited" data does not imply unlimited high speed LTE data. After burning through your 7GB of limited high speed data the plan speeds slow.

specifically international calling and texting on the Verizon plan...it never worked, that's why I'm leaving RP
I've iMessaged internationally, but never regular text messaged. Also, I haven't called internationally either because I usually just Facetime. I am curious, what happens when you try to call or text? Does it just fail? And have you tried contacting Red Pocket? Thanks in advance!

Perfect timing, on of our devices expires in 7 days. I'm on this plan (upgraded from 5 to 7gb as well) and just bought 2 of these plans...saved $60! thanks OP!
You're welcome! I've been checking their ebay store daily for myself but didn't want to pay the full price. Luckily it just went on sale this morning!

There will prolly be a better deal on Black Friday. That's when it's the best pricing for all carriers of this type.
Hopefully you're right, but nothing is guaranteed. It was $195 ($16.25/month) for the 5GB plan last year on Black Friday, so to me, I'd rather get it now and not worry later about possibly saving $15.

If you have a current plan with RP, they will let you activate this when your current plan expires. Call RP to verify.

I can only speak from my experience on Red Pocket's CDMA (Verizon) plan. I have all the features I need: LTE, Mobile Hotspot, Visual Voicemail, MMS/SMS texting, and the same service reception/quality as my friends with Verizon. I have been in remote areas where service is spotty for all carriers and I still had the same reception as my friends with Verizon.

Can you provide a little more context as to how you obtained this knowledge? I ask because the previous Red Pocket threads were all over the place in regards to this topic. I'd prefer the knowledge coming from first hand experience or from a rep that's written in text (conversation over the phone is hard to prove if they try to screw you in the future). I usually DM them on Twitter or message them on eBay so I have proof of their answers. Thank you!

T-Mobile's coverage is spotty in my area, especially in my home. What's the point of a cell phone if I can't even use it to call 911 in an emergency? So, my only option was to go with Verizon. I ended up going with Xfinity Mobile's unlimited for my wife (runs of Verizon for $45/month) and Red Pocket (CDMA Verizon) for myself. I've been 100% happy with my service and I'm 11 months in.
Here is my thread with CS from minutes ago. I am on this plan so I will be able to stack at any time (but in my case my second line is also within 90 days so I could theoretically wait until a few days before expiration)

then let me ask you a question. If I buy a plan today but my renewal/expiration date is 1/16/2021 when can I add to my renewal without losing my current plan
meaning if I add a 1-year renewal does it forfeit my current plan?

CS Alexus 12:47
If it is the same plan then the plan will stack on to your current one. But if it is an upgrade or a different plan you will forfeit the remaining time and balances on your current plan

Visitor 12:48
How long do I have to activate a new plan? I think is the same plan

CS Alexus 12:49
The codes that we send to our customers have 90 days before it expires

As long as the plan is the same and with the same carrier, you can tack on the new 12 mo. plan. It gets added to the end of your expiration date.

So for instance, if your expiration for your existing ATT 5GB plan (now automatically upgraded to 7GB) is March 2021. If you buy the 12 mo. plan today, it'll update your expiration date to March 2022.
^This must be new, cause they've always told me you have to wait until your existing plan is expiring to activate a new plan.

FYI: My 360-Day 5GB CDMA plan that I've had since 12/2019 was upgraded automatically to the 7GB plan. I can confirm that I now have 7GB of data per month as my remaining data at the moment is 6GB with 25 days left of my month. My yearly plan is set to expire in November, so I purchased this as a renewal/existing SIM.
Hi, thanks for sharing. Could you speak a bit about your experience using this service? How's the actual phone service? How's data? Customer service? Any issues or red flags?

Thanks again

Anyone know if international calling is native (direct dial) or does it require a special access number (like a calling card)? Is call quality good? Thanks.

Direct dial , but there is a catch.
If you enable WI-FI calling you cant do international direct dial calling, for direct dial to work you have to disable the wifi calling.
Also noticed the text messages are not received properly if you enable wifi calling.

Thanks

Perfect thanks! Exactly what I was hoping for. That makes sense, if the plan is the same you can add on. If it is different, you will lose your old plan as soon as you activate the new one.

I said a little of this earlier, but I'll expand:

I have been in remote areas where service is spotty for all carriers and I still had the same reception as my friends with Verizon. In my home, I can get 2-3 bars of service on my iPhone which allows me to use data/make calls with zero issues. Previously with AT&T and T-Mobile, I would only get 0-2 bars of service, with 0 and 1 bars being the most common seen. To get 2 bars, I had to go to specific spots in my house to make calls which was annoying.

Is Hotspot included in this?

I've got to have it as an option to make this work for me.

It looks like a great deal - especially if it includes it.
My first gen Pixel XL on RP works fine with hotspot.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll stay with Ultra mobile then which works fine for international calling.

I have RP GSMT and can direct dial international. My spouse has GSMA and has to use the access number per CS. Recently, it keeps saying there's $10 credit when my spouse calls the access number, whatever that means. I don't have trouble with my RP GSMT service because I rarely use the service, but my spouse runs into problems constantly with them, specifically shutting off messaging service. It's ridiculous. I suggest to never buy RP if you actually use your phone service. CS is a joke.
