Use Chase Credit Card 5% Cash Back Offer on up to $1,500 in combined purchases when using PayPayl from 10/1/2020 – 12/31/2020.

If ordering "Renewal / Existing SIM," use an address from a tax free state to skip taxes on eBay

Clarifying Details from Red Pocket customer support rep CS Karl on 12-Oct.
  • Hotspot Tethering on CDMA: "We do apologize please be advise that we only support hotspot /tethering on our CDMA network for IOS devices." (implying android does not support tethering on the CDMA)
  • Upgrading your old plan to this one: "You need to upgrade it on the expiration date of the each of the plan, because if you will upgrade it today it will apply right away and remaining days for the current plans will be gone or forfeited"
  • How long do we have to activate this plan/SIM? "Please be advise that activations for the annual plan has a Expiration date of 90 days" (implying that if your renewal date is more than 90 days away from your purchase date, you may want to wait for the next sale)
  • Does our old 5GB plan have 7GB now or still 5GB? "Although the 5gb plan I purchased Black Friday 2019 now shows as a 7gb plan on the "My Lines" summary page, the actual remaining capacity is only 5gb per month when they calculate it." Karl indicated " it will become 7GB on the renewal date" --ChronoTriggered: "My 5GB now shows I have 7GB per month with 6GB remaining, so I believe it was upgraded."
  • Is this truly Unlimited Data? "Unlimited" data does not imply unlimited high speed LTE data. After burning through your 7GB of limited high speed data the plan speeds slow.

Here's part of a way to pick up another 5%

Chase has announced its Q4 bonus categories for the Chase Freedom card, and you'll have the opportunity to get 5% back on Paypal, Chase Pay, and department store purchases from October through the end of the year,

Cellular service pricing should be falling even further, particularly for plans that do not include 5G. That said, this is a pretty good deal. I like VIsible at $25/month (party plan with people I don't even know), but $17-something is compelling.

What someone posted above is true. RedPocket is great service and for Verizon-based at least (don't know about others) include hotspot but you have to ask for it to be turned on.

But if something goes haywire like the primary carrier (in my case, AT&T at the time dropping me from their database), RedPocket customer service will not help you.

I have RP GSMT and can direct dial international. My spouse has GSMA and has to use the access number per CS. Recently, it keeps saying there's $10 credit when my spouse calls the access number, whatever that means. I don't have trouble with my RP GSMT service because I rarely use the service, but my spouse runs into problems constantly with them, specifically shutting off messaging service. It's ridiculous. I suggest to never buy RP if you actually use your phone service. CS is a joke.
Thanks for the info!

FYI: My 360-Day 5GB CDMA plan that I've had since 12/2019 was upgraded automatically to the 7GB plan. I can confirm that I now have 7GB of data per month as my remaining data at the moment is 6GB with 25 days left of my month. My yearly plan is set to expire in November, so I purchased this as a renewal/existing SIM.
I think this is a website error. I also have 5gb but now showing as 7. Last month high speed data stopped working 3 days prior to reset at 2046MB "left".

If you care about sending messages with your phone service, avoid Red Pocket at all cost. It is well-documented in previous posts and in our experience that RP will shut down your text messaging without warning because they claim it is being overused. They refer you to their terms of service, which they claim gives them the right to do so at any time they want for any reason they want. They won't tell you how many is too many, but from anecdotal evidence, it is somewhere in the range of more than 8 messages in a minute, which is easy to do in group messaging. Their unlimited messaging is not unlimited! Avoid RP at all cost if you care at all about messaging.
This is 100% true. I can confirm as an a first and last time RP customer.

Coverage sucks, and it doesn't get coverage where I used to get coverage with AT&T, even thought I chose the ATT Tower option when I bought this.

And as for the internet speed, forget about it.. it's like they deliberately put a 2 second delay on whatever I wanted to do, so every request I send takes 2+ seconds to do anything.
Worst of all, I bought 1 year option so I'm stuck with this all this year.

Question on porting for those familiar with Red Pocket:

Since this seems to be a dual CDMA/GSM MVNO, can I port a phone number from UltraMobile, a T-Mobile MVNO?

Appreciate all the info fellow SD'ers can share - thanks!

I too was upgraded to 7gb from 5gb, in the middle of my year. As for the service, I have RP via ATT and have not had any issues. The Internet is works well, as does the text and voice. I am a light user though. I never go through more than 3 or 4gb of data and maybe 25 texts a month.

But I'd get it again. They were as good as Republic Wireless (which I dropped because it was more expensive).

I live in Chicago and I think where you live has a lot to do with the service you can expect.

NYC redpocket user here. My husband has a GSM sim card and I use the CDMA one and we have great reception and everything works. I LOVE that you can renew with these cheap annual cards rather than just start new service. Customer care is a step above a lot of these smaller companies that resell Verizon and ATT and Tmobile service. Actually, I do have a problem using my phone as a hotspot, but I'm not sure if it's a problem with my phone or the service (I get a notification that my password is wrong when it's correct when I try to connect to my phone. I called redpocket and they reset the hotspot settings to no avail).

As a side note, I purchased one of these cards like seven months before I actually called to start service on my phone and the customer service rep was able to use the card number without a problem (meaning there wasn't a 3 month window to when I had to activate from when I purchased the card on ebay in my case but maybe I just got lucky?).
