I commented on my work from home setup to help others who didn't know you can rock out with a single cable. People with heavy duty laptops and desktops probably won't benefit much from this feature.
But people with heavy duty laptops are usually the ones that have the heavy duty power bricks. Gah! I guess I'll still be purchasing that expensive dock when I have the money. In like 5 years.
Looking to replace my predator gsync monitor. Will this have clean text? My 27" predator in vertical mode don't have much horizontal real estate... I'm thinking 4k in vertical will be great.
Is it the same panel? This one is listed as brighter than the 650. I have the 650 now, and its bright enough for my needs, but brighter could be better. The bezels look a bit thinner on the bottom as well.
Depends what you're using it for. 5ms is pretty quick response time for any purpose. 60 hz is a little slow for FPS gaming. Fine for everything else. This is not a gaming monitor though - its for color accuracy and pixel density for multimedia applications.
I'm comparing this to the LG 32UN880-B. Aside from the obvious mount vs stand, specs seems nearly identical. Am I missing something?
Many of the LG panels seem identical except for the mounts - but I'm not sure they actually are the same. The 32UD99 says it can reach 550 nits in HDR, the 880 doesn't. But it does say the 880 is HDR10, so who knows. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me has done an actual teardown.
If you're not in a rush, just put the 43" LG 43UN700-B in the cart at BH Photo and price might drop to $599. It happened to me. I got it over a month ago for $575 plus tax if you prefer bigger size.

They have the same specs, brightness is 350 typical for both. The one in this post is was first sold in 2017, and the 32UN650 is a 2020 model. The thickness of the bottom bezel seems like a 2020 thing, my 27GL83A has the same thickness on the bottom, and its a smaller monitor. Otherwise I cant see any differences in the listed specs besides the 650 supporting freesync, but there isnt much detailed info on the 650. Its probably just the same panel with some cost cutting on the inputs, but I'm not going to take it apart to find out. lol
whats USB-C used for? charging laptop? this feature is not needed if I use desktop right?
I have a desktop and a MacBook Pro. I have a 7 port usb hub connected to the monitor with all my desktop accessories attached to it. If I'd like to dock my laptop and use it as a desktop I accomplish this with a single USB-C cable from the monitor to the laptop. Similarly when I want to switch over to my desktop I plug the USB-C cable to it.
