i wish they sold it with the 48 oz container instead of 64 oz, since the 64 oz is too tall to fit under normal kitchen cabinets when it's on the base.
but, i've read a few reviews of the low-profile 64 oz container that comes with the other models, which say it doesn't work well when you want to make small servings (less than 4 cups or so) because the base is too wide. i'd rather deal with the inconvenience of extra height than lose the ability to make single servings. if it gets too annoying, i can always order the 48 oz container separately later.

The Vitamix Perfect Blend Smart Scale and Recipe App are only compatible with blenders sold in the U.S. DO NOT use the Vitamix App with the Food Processor Attachment", so presumably it will work with any of their blenders?
Upon further thinking, I see what's going on.. There must be a lot of left-over units because of reduced restaurant/home demand. And they are clearing those at cost basis. So, it doesn't mean one can buy the 5200 at this price every year.
Also, in support of those who pay $400 for the 5200(or full price for any other product such as a laptop or a smartphone), such people tend to take good care of the product and use it for longer time than those who buy it for cheap.
Bottom line, as there are billionaires and those who make $1 a day and all kinds of people in-between, there are also people who pay $1200 for a new iphone, those who pay $49 for an iphone 7 on sale and all kinds of people in-between.
