NEW! eufy Security Wired 2K Video Doorbell 24/7 recording - Best Buy

This is a new 2k wired doorbell that continuously records up to 5 days.

other improvements are a better chime and 32Gb local storage which is much better than the 4Gb on the other version.

Eufy said future homebase 2 support is targeted by 1/2021 on a question on the bestbuy link. Take that with a grain of salt.

Ah, so there is probably a catch to this all. It might come off as false adverting (potential lawsuit) saying it's 2K and can record 24/7 but it's actually forced into a lower resolution at all times if recording 24/7. If it can record 24/7 at 1080p or lower, than when it detects motion, it jumps up to 2K that would be fine. They could get rid of the audio stream for extra bit rate savings when recording 24/7 (I imagine they do this too).
I can for a fact tell you there is no way, not even with 256+ compression that 5 days could fit onto a small SD card like this without changes to recording. But thats not a bad thing. You dont need to see the same image over and over again at full quality if there is nothing going on.

As you guys assumed and guessed yes there is probably some automation in the background, where the number of frames recorded drops to a very low number when no activity is present and quality might drop too, but once motion is detected it shoots it back up to full.

I cant find any details on the MP count, frame recording numbers, or anything else related to this camera currently. The other doorbell camers have been really good so I am assumigng this one will be too, still a little pricey though. Probably on sale for $150 in the next few months.

Why would you need 24 hr recording? Isn't it fine to detect motion and alert when something in the zone? Can someone explain?

Does this support homekit? I couldn't find any details about it so I'm guessing no.

In the process of swapping from Rings to Unfi doorbells now (24/7 without cloud), but this is definitely interesting.

There are some that can record 24/7. Problem is that you need an NVR. Even, then some of those cheaper DVR/NVR manufacturers have awful apps and you won't get alerted instantly. Hikvision doorbell and apps seemed to work well, but then the whole phoning to home China and trade blacklist.

Ubiquiti should be releasing their new doorbell soon and for a consumer that wants/needs extra bells and whistles this should be it.

If you want to a step further then there's Blue IRIS and you can also set up automations with any smart hub you have.
I really like ubiquity but it caught me off guard with the whole discontinuation (https://community.ui.com/question...20products.) of their unifi-video services to push forward with protect. I'm glad I didn't buy into the video ecosystem as I have unifi in my house but it doesn't encourage me to venture into their protect ecosystem early on.

This is MSRP and should NOT be considered a "slickdeal". It's a new product at MSRP. I guess I will start posting every single new product that comes out at retail price on here and expect to get a thumbs up. A few weeks ago i posted a deal for the wireless doorbell that was $50 off retail, and got a thumbs down because someone thought it wasn't a good brand....so the fact that you can get thumbs up by posting a new product at MSRP on here is an absolute joke...sorry, but this is NOT what slickdeals is about...there is no deal here.
Considering you have posted 4 deals in 14 years on slickdeals, I am going to assume that you still haven't found a deal that meets your definition of slick.

If everyone on here contributed as much as you do this site would be blank.

All you have been doing is complaining when I try to do a nice thing and show people a 24/7 recording doorbell for $169.99 with no monthly fees. Show me where else you can find that.

You are being completely hypocritical...it was actually YOU who posted in my thread a few weeks ago when I posted the $50 off deal...and i SPECIFICALLY put in the thread that these doorbells are good because there is no monthly subscription and you wrote "Cameras are great but the doorbells are junk"...GO SEARCH THE THREADS....hypocrite

I'm just a little confused how they are able to have 5 days worth of recording 24/7 in 2k resolution on 32GB of storage. How is that even possible? Obviously someone would say "compression" but still, it doesn't make sense. I'm wondering if the 24/7 recording goes at a lower resolution, then once motion is detected it activates the full recording bit rate. Recording 24/7 at 2k resolution would have to consume something like 260MB per hour (over 5 days). I don't see how that's possible.
Your numbers match up for h264, but I'm guessing they're using HEVC/h265.

*edit* Whoops, this has already been covered. My bad.

While what you said was right, it did not refute his point. This is still MSRP and is not a slick deal. Yes, it's the best price for a product with these features. But this isn't a tech forum where we talk about gadgets. It's slickdeals.net.

Slickdeals is often used for msrp items. I get at least one notification a day about nintendo switches being "back in stock" for $299 which is regular price.

Like i said these are New so we don't know what regular price is. Regular price on the older version is this price but that has a lot less to it.

So for the price of the old camera you get 28Gb extra storage 24/7 video recording and HDR added on that makes this slick to me.

You did not post this doorbell. At that time the wired had 4Gb and no 24/7 recording. So yeah that is not very good. The wireless has no prebuffer and no continuous recording so this is much better.

You don't see me going on ring pro threads and calling people hypocrites for saying ring doorbell version 1 was crap. Different products. I would recommend thinking before you type.

I posted a DEAL about a product that was $50 off MSRP, and that was BEFORE this product even came out...THAT IS WHAT THIS WEBSITE IS ABOUT....yeah, think before you type...YOU gave my thread a THUMBS DOWN specifically because YOU didn't like the product...have some integrity. I posted a deal, and you jumped on to voice your opinion on the product instead of on the deal, and now that I voiced my opinion about YOUR post not containing an actual deal, you "recommend thinking before you type".....wow...

This is what you do. You post one deal every 4 years then spend the other 3 complaining that this is what slickdeals is about.

You have too much anger. Those doorbells are not good due to no 24/7 and super limited storage. I don't care if they are $100 off it still is not a good doorbell if you are spending that much.

Now they have a good doorbell and you are holding some middle school grudge cause someone didn't like your art project.

Just buy it if you want 24/7 recording and larger storage or go about your day instead of thread-crapping where people are trying to learn more about a product.

Eufy's products for the doorbell is a bit confusing. It basically goes like this:

1) Wireless version can ALSO be wired - This specific version uses the homebase to store video locally inside your house. This DOES NOT have 3 second pre-record. It only records once it detects motion
2) Wired version - This version does not use the homebase. It stores video ONLY on the video doorbell. This version has continuous 3 second pre-record video. Meaning the device is constantly recording but not saving the video UNTIL motion is detected. So 3 seconds before the motion was detected is saved to the device.
3) This NEW wired version - Does not use homebase as of now (they say they can allow it via a firmware later, who knows if this happens). It stores video ONLY on the video doorbell (until homebase integration comes). It records 24/7 and will save motion activated moments.
Not really confusing . . . looks like you got it
