NEW! eufy Security Wired 2K Video Doorbell 24/7 recording - Best Buy

This is a new 2k wired doorbell that continuously records up to 5 days.

other improvements are a better chime and 32Gb local storage which is much better than the 4Gb on the other version.

Eufy said future homebase 2 support is targeted by 1/2021 on a question on the bestbuy link. Take that with a grain of salt.

I'm just a little confused how they are able to have 5 days worth of recording 24/7 in 2k resolution on 32GB of storage. How is that even possible? Obviously someone would say "compression" but still, it doesn't make sense. I'm wondering if the 24/7 recording goes at a lower resolution, then once motion is detected it activates the full recording bit rate. Recording 24/7 at 2k resolution would have to consume something like 260MB per hour (over 5 days). I don't see how that's possible.
Compression works much better when the image is not changing much like in 24/7 static video camera on a doorbell

These are my reasons I want 24/7 I had my mailbox run over the other day and without continous recording it was outside my motion zone so I missed it. with this same amount of alerts but catch everything in view. Other reasons are to monitor during cooldown. Also say someone has been driving around casing your place or they drive by and park their car before putting a mask on and approaching.
That's interesting, is the regular video doorbell not able to stream to your phone if you just open the Eufy app? If it can, then the mailbox full case is taken care of. I would say the case of people casing around your house will be hard to spot, unless you review the recorded videos all the time. And the case of the mask will be quite situational, if they were to put on a mask anyways, what's stopping them from doing so before coming into the field of view of the camera?

besides 4gb vs 32gb and the chime, any other difference between the OLD WIRED vs the NEW WIRED?

The only way I would see the mailbox is if it was watching live view all day. The casing The house is when you get vandalized or robbed and only see a masked bandit then you look back on the recording to see the culprit parking his car down the street out of camera view or driving by earlier that day.

can anyone tell if the screw holes are in the same location as the old wired eufy doorbell? this new one seems slightly larger in dimensions.

Extremely low bitrate. Security cams don't need to be highly detailed. Just good enough so that you can identify who is there.

Going to cancel my Amazon order for the 4gb and get this one. For an extra $70, the Continuous recording is worth it to me.

Thanks!
