NEW! eufy Security Wired 2K Video Doorbell 24/7 recording - Best Buy

This is a new 2k wired doorbell that continuously records up to 5 days.

other improvements are a better chime and 32Gb local storage which is much better than the 4Gb on the other version.

Eufy said future homebase 2 support is targeted by 1/2021 on a question on the bestbuy link. Take that with a grain of salt.

lol, I JUST was having a conversation with someone in the Eufy thread yesterday that none of the video doorbells are perfect. That there are none on the market that can record non-stop, getting rid of the 3 second pre record nonsense.

Did this just come out today? What's the odds that would happen! 🤣

We were also discussing in the other thread how the wired Doorbell (from last gen) would not work with the Homebase. So all video was stored on the doorbell itself and didn't have the ability to be sent to the homebase for extra security. I guess there are people that worry that someone will try to steal the doorbell since the video is housed on the unit. I wonder if they fixed that issue on this new version.

Agreed. I about pulled the trigger on the $99 old version but I have not seen a 24/7 continous recording doorbell without a subscription so I ponied up. Best buy will price match anything non black Friday until January with a few exclusions

Alexa Show support? Like "Alexa, show video from Eufy doorbell" or whatever?

This is an answer on the product page "At this time (as of early October), this video doorbell cannot record or connect to the HomeBase. It is a planned software/firmware update and will be available soon via an over-the-air update. Estimating the end of December 2020 or January 2021." But again take it with a grain of salt.

Yes it works that way. It is also supposed to have capability to show automatically on echo show but I haven't seen that functioning yet. Will try when I get mine.

Internal storage built in no sd card add on. Homebase 2 support would add 16Gb inside the home if that actually comes in December/January

I'm just a little confused how they are able to have 5 days worth of recording 24/7 in 2k resolution on 32GB of storage. How is that even possible? Obviously someone would say "compression" but still, it doesn't make sense. I'm wondering if the 24/7 recording goes at a lower resolution, then once motion is detected it activates the full recording bit rate. Recording 24/7 at 2k resolution would have to consume something like 260MB per hour (over 5 days). I don't see how that's possible.

The indoor cams record at 1080p if you are doing continuous recording and only 2K when it detects motion events. I'm guessing this is similar. I've had continuous recording on some indoor games and 9 days of footage has only taken up 30GB or so.

Just checked my indoor 2k camera and it goes back to September 26th so 18 days with a 128Gb microsd. So this one would probably be around 4.5 days.

also checked and it is recording at 2k according to the settings.

Mine has a setting to change continuous to 2k.

Ah, so there is probably a catch to this all. It might come off as false adverting (potential lawsuit) saying it's 2K and can record 24/7 but it's actually forced into a lower resolution at all times if recording 24/7. If it can record 24/7 at 1080p or lower, than when it detects motion, it jumps up to 2K that would be fine. They could get rid of the audio stream for extra bit rate savings when recording 24/7 (I imagine they do this too).

There is a setting on the 2k pan cam to record in 2k.
