This or the Steam version?
Highly recommend the Steam version if you're at all curious about mods.

Windows store hijacks your hard drive the game is installed on. Cannot access the contents which it resides in as it is locked from you in your own damn computer.

For the longest time you could get it on CD Keys for a few dollars.
That was the Xbox One version, this is the newer PC version that has had more work done to it. The PC version hasn't and likely won't go that cheap anytime soon as parts are still being released.

I have been enjoying Reach on PC Game pass, but it has a weird issue where it will kill my video. It's somewhat random when it happens, but once it happened when I hit mute on my keyboard, and another time when it gave me an achievement.
It also happens with FS2020 as well.
No other games have this issue. Only game pass ones.
Only way to get video back is to shut PC down, let it set for a few minutes, and then start it back up again. It's like it switches away from DVI. If I plug my VR goggles into display port, it will show what is going on.

Windows does suck. And the Windows Store is even worse. It's like they're trying to turn it into Mac OS. If I wanted Mac OS, I'd buy a Mac from Apple. I build my own computer so that I can edit stuff and they turned off my administrator account by default and have me locked out of certain privileges.

Unfortunately, I lack the time to learn Linux right now. I'll get a chance in a year or two and then I can help all my friends and family make the transition.

It took some research to figure out how to change the default install directory from C:\

After I learned how to do that, I keep Windows Store games on their own little island of a hard drive. There's just some partitioning voodoo magic and hardcore file access DRM that even advanced Administrator rights changes can't take ownership of. Yeah, I don't want that garbage anywhere near my productivity software; thanks but no thanks.

this is like 85 gig download btw its trying to compete with warzone
For 6 separate games, this doesn't sound too bad. I seem to recall BL3 with all 4 DLC being >100 GB

From experience, one of those frequent microsoft updates can kill your installed games. It's a nightmare to get it back. Since then I always prefer the steam game version.

One of my tricks now that games are pushing 100Gb plus, buy a few 256Gb thumb drives for $30 bucks when they go on sale. Hint - Black Friday coming soon.

I have a thumb drive for Steam games and another thumb drive for Forza Horizon 4 from microsoft. I also bought the Samsung T7 exclusively for Microsoft Flight Simulator. I expect that 500Gb to get used up quickly with scenery packs.

But yeah, say no to microsoft games. But then again, I have that prepaid Games Pass Ultimate. So what am I saying?

Worth every penny. I've put countless of hours playing Halo 3 online. Also, it was fun playing Halo 1 and 2 campaign with enhanced graphics. Highly recommend.

Heads up, this Halo collection is part of the Microsoft PC Game Pass. IMHO, you may be better served with a free trial or a subscription, and also able to play many other games. BTW, the download weights in at 110 GB for the collection! I'm not shilling for Micro$oft, but I do like the Game Pass. I used old credits to buy almost two years of the service at the beta price right before it went up last month.

This is not true. My Game Pass games are installed on a RAID 1 setup I have, and it has no affect on the drive, other than consuming space. I have my entire Steam collection on the same drive. You can also access some of the files if you change the Windows Explorer folder options to show hidden files.

I dont have game pass. I just have Forza 7 and PSO2 from Microsoft app store. I would google PSO2 Microsoft App Store to see how much people hate the Microsoft Store under Windows.
