lol this thing is garbage. Range is barely room wide and laggy at times. Really half baked product. Oh well, getting returned.

You're being a little melodramatic. It sounds like this game isn't for you. It isn't a hardcore racing sim you can put 100 hours into. It is a fun distraction for families and kids. I've been driving on carpet and it's fine. Kind of like being off-road on a dirt track. With that said, the smoother the surface you are driving on the smoother the car travels, obviously. So if you have shag carpet it's not ideal. And the signal does not travel infinitely. If you drive too far away you get some breakup, same if you have too much metal and brick between you and the car. It goes about twenty feet fine. But my kids have been freaking out since we got it. They have been playing nonstop. We might have to get some other RC cars now that they have discovered this.
So this isn't meant to be driven on major highways?

I live on a roof top apartment. Inside, I have about 1600 square ft and outside even more. Had a few hiccups that I worked out with being on the roof, but other than that it was awesome. Maybe it's your setup or user error.
