50$ off all AT&T iPhones through upgrade. I just ordered today (10/21) and it says my phone will be delivered 10/27. 50$ off is better than nothing considering I don't want to change to an unlimited plan.

Is there a better pre-order deal for existing Verizon customers? I'm trying to figure out why this thread is getting negative rating.

Probably because it's only $50 off, not $130 off (at least for ATT, I didn't check Verizon).
Not the OP's fault but deceptive advertising by WM. It states the price is $130 off of the following prices: $879/929/1029 for 64/128/256 GB iPhone 12 respectively rather than the supposed $799/849/949.

So the 64 GB iPhone 12 is coming up as $749 rather than $799 at Apple Store for a net of $50 off. Still not bad but not the $130 that the banner says.

Is there a way to avoid the $40 upgrade fee with Verizon? I haven't bought a phone in a while, but I think I remember I had to pay it last time.

WM typically increases the MSRP for some reason, then puts a sale on it.

Last BF their $400 GC with a new XR, they never changed the MSRP so it was $50 higher. I complained left and right and did get the $50 off.

And they didn't tell Verizon about it until the spring so it was almost 6 months without having to pay for it. It was great while it lasted as hope was they would never tell Verizon to deduct the installment.

Waiting/Hoping for Sam's Club deal to upgrade a line currently on a 7. The mini would be best since it won't seem like a bigger phone physically but will have a bigger screen.

The upgrade fee for ATT is $30.

For the WM MSRP issue, it wasn't a problem for the iPhone SE2 back in April when they had $200 off. Ordered one for $199, was a great deal for a brand new SE2, cheaper than getting a used 8.

I spoke with verizon on chat, and they were able to take 200 off the retail (via monthly bill credits). Since I can't get trade in credits (busted note8) and refuse to change my original unlimited plan that seemed to be the best for me.

My brother bought it through WM. Not $130 off but $50 off upfront is better than paying full price through ATT or Apple. His iPhone died and won't even turn on so won't qualify for trade-in so it was best price we could find.

Most phones still arriving on release day Oct 23 even 10 hrs later.
