I own this. While not effortless, easiest fryer to clean that I have owned. Good volume and cooks well.

With the advent of air fryers it's hard to justify deep frying. The downsides are plenty and the upsides are few.
LOL air fryers are total gimmick. It's a toaster oven w/ a fan. Try making croquettes or beer batter anything from scratch and let me know how it turns out....

I used to think that air fryers were a gimmick until I actually used one. They are definitely not just a toaster oven with a fan. But yes, there are some things you need a deep fryer for and nothing else will do. However, if you are OK with buying some premade foods then air frying is super convenient and gives great results.

The processed foods you buy in frozen aisle have already been already fried in conventional fryer. You are just warming them up in you fan powered toaster oven. Air fryer quite literally is Just a resistance coil with a fan distributing the heat. It's same technology every electric convection oven uses....

The fan in your average air fryer is much more powerful than the circulating fan in a convection oven. You can have crispy steak-cut fries ready from frozen in 10 minutes - you won't do that with a convection oven.

As someone who has done of a lot deep frying in the past I don't miss the layer of waxy grease that builds up over time on kitchen surfaces (tops of cupboard etc.) from condensing oil. Nor will I miss the oil management issues - it's hard to find a place to dump that stuff now. I'm happy to pay extra for someone else to have done the frying first for the foods that need it.

Deep fryers are for people that prefer quality meals, not convenient meals. Quality isn't found in the frozen aisle....

Great price. Have it, love it. Unless you have a room sized air fryer it's going to take you 3x as long to cook a larger volume of food in that than this will. I have an air fryer too and it's good in spots, but doesn't compare to this.

An air-fryer - while doing a decent job at some things is no replacement for true deep-frying. Healthiness aside.

I have this one, got it for $66 in 2008, it's awesome. The right size for home if you want to cook for 2-4 people, most the smaller ones can't fry enough in one run. I do hot wings in it Smilie

yes, there's always pros and cons..... but at the end of the day, most food that should be deep fried turns out way better in a deep fryer than an air fryer. it's about quality to me - and pre-fried / frozen while convenient, again doesn't come close. some of us prefer quality - and it's not like every meal i eat is from a deep-fryer.

I bought this in February of this year for $1 more (though Amazon Warehouse "like new"). I just want to say it's a great fryer for our 4 member household, super easy to clean, and it's not too large to store when not in use. It does leak a bit when draining as reviews mention, but it's not terrible. We keep the filtered oil on a rimmed tray in our garage fridge. Anyway, I fully recommend, good buy!
