I've seen this model for $1250 at Costco before ($250 off) but never $400 off. This is super light and not much bigger than a 15.5" when closed.
The sale STARTS October 28th.

I upgraded the ram to 40gb (8+32) and a 2 tb nvme. Glad to answer any questions.
To control heat and fan noise LG has unfortunately and very sneakily has throttled down the Intel CPU, yes they made it slower and weaker, this is really bad news.
The built-in graphic chip is not powerful, so you cannot play demanding PC games, it is OK for light and normal computing.
LG supplies a horrible and slow Ethernet adapter, this poor adapter sucks, on my super fast Gigabit Internet connection, when I normally connect at over 900 Mbps, this garbage adapter can only connect around 30-40 Mbps, that is more than 30 times slower, a big yuck.
The battery life is advertised to be around 17 hours. This is a complete lie and a myth. My new laptop's battery life was only around 6 hours only.
If light weight is needed then consider this laptop....otherwise just forget about buying this model as there are much better and more powerful laptops for about the same cost....although they will be heavier.
VERY IMPORTANT: If you ever decide to upgrade the memory and/or SSD drive you will be voiding the LG warranty. I confirmed this critical information with LG Support.
LG highly recommends not to upgrade until you own it for one year, that is when the warranty expires. Be very careful. You have been warned.
I did not like or enjoy this very over-priced and poor laptop and returned it back to Costco.
Even at the current sale price of $1,110.00 (with $10 shipping cost) plus add your local sales tax it is very ridiculously high priced laptop.

First: LG notified me that the Costco model 17Z90N-R.AAC8U1 can ONLY be upgraded to a maximum of 24 GB RAM, unlike other models available from other dealers which can be upgraded to a maximum of 40 GB, so the Costco model is supposedly different and unique.
Where you really successful in upgrading to 40 GB RAM? Any issues?
Please tell us here, with links, which memory module model and SSD drive model you upgraded to?
Second reason: LG also officially notified me that any upgrade or changes to this laptop's memory RAM and/or SSD drive will VOID the LG one-year warranty.
LG highly recommends NOT to do any upgrades until after one year of ownership as that is when the LG factory warranty expires.

Yes. It was the Costco version, purchased in store on sale.
2tb SSD: ADATA - XPG - SX8200 Pro. I reformatted and moved the stock SSD into the other slot.
Ram: 32GB 3200MHz DDR4 CL20 SODIMM HyperX Impact
BTW, my battery life regularly gets me 10-12hours, maybe not 17, but better than any other laptop I've ever owned. Now that I think about it, that's also with the 80% charging limit enabled to preserve battery health, so it might get close if i disable that.
Works great. No issues. As for warranty and any guarantees, you're on your own. With Costco's generous return policy and my confidence in fixing hardware issues, I felt comfortable, but it is really up to you. It worked fine for me, but as with any tech upgrade, YMMV.

It looks like that LG is wrong with what they told me about the RAM upgrade as it seems that you do not have any issues and you were able to successfully upgrade to 40 GB.
I truly will like to help everyone here, and do not want to sound negative.
My review I believe is quite accurate and everything I wrote was what I experienced.

Good luck all.

When it comes to laptops, there are a lot of tradeoffs and maybe you don't like how LG handles things. In regards to throttling, heat is the bane of all laptops. It simply will not function if it gets too hot. Different manufactures handle it in different ways, weaker CPUs, throttling, bigger heatsinks/fans to cool it (more size and weight). This also affects battery life. In short, it depends on your specific needs. This laptop has the latest parts at the lightest weight! Show me something cheaper and it will likely have last gen parts.

I used a Samsung 32 GB DDR4 2666MHz. Got it from Newegg.

I also added a 2TB Samsung Evo 970+ SSD and also had no problems.

And the pad is plenty big as it is. It's huge. I see no need to make I even bigger.
