How does the G203 compare? I got a G203 from Prime Day on the way, but this looks tempting based on all the rave reviews.
Also anyone know if Amazon will price match?

Thanks OP. Got one.
update: I'm still using an mx518 from 2009/2010.
I loved mine from then but the single clicks became double clicks long ago. In fact most of my Logitech mice over the last 20 years have died that way.

I wish MS still made the intellimouse optical. Frown the remakes are based off of the explorer and the optical ones on ebay are always either from China (ie probably fakes) or they cost well over $100.

It's a good mouse for sure. But keep in mind guys it's a really heavy mouse by modern gaming standards.
Heavy and big by today's standards. It still up to your preference though. I just don't trust any of these manufacturers now. Logitech today isn't what it used to be. My mx518 is a tank. I liked it so much I bought the not nearly as iconic 154gram G5 after.

Its a whole different type of mouse. The G203 is my daily driver right now. This was/is a great mouse but its from the early 2000's and it has a huge form factor and weights over 100g. I was tempted to get this thing because how iconic it was but I know I would never use it. The G203 is much slimmer/smaller, lighter but not nearly as indestructible. They just don't make them like they used to. I still have my mx518 from the early 2000's and it still works today. It all about preference.

I'm hoping they make a remake of the 2004 Razer Diamondback. That was my daily driver until my right click stopped working cause of League of Legends a couple years back. Before the Razer, it was this mx518.

502 has better ergonomics at this point, but for $20 its a good starter mouse.

Did the rubber melt yet?

That was a problem with these models, melty rubber cladding, really gross.

Think I will pick this one up to try as a potential backup from my old school Logitech G5 Laser Mouse that I am still using. (I can't believe people are selling used ones for hundreds of dollars - eg https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AY5YI4/)

This appears to be the same shape so the ergonomics should be the same. I guess I have taken my mouse for granted but that G5 is invincible. The braided cord and sensor has put up with 15+ (?) years of heavy gaming and other use and is still going strong. To follow up on an earlier comment, mice and keyboards really do seem to hold up to older = better. (I also use a G11 gaming keyboard that's about the same age). Still this mouse has that HERO sensor, which on paper is much more advanced than the one I have. I'd like to try it.

Would it make a good replacement for the G400s?

It's up to you. This is the same mouse shape with the newer, better Hero sensor. It's also only $20.
