They are not on sale in the Quest store. You have to buy them from the Rift Store. You can then buy them for Free on the Quest store. It's convoluted, but that's how Facebook made it. These are cross buy, meaning that you can play it on the Quest and Quest 2 stand alone or on PC with Quest PC Link

Wands 50% off $10

Gravity Sketch 69% off $8.99

This isn't a game. It's a 3D modeler

Does the cross buy work on all games that are on both rift and quest or how can you tell if it will work?

How safe is it to buy from the Oculus store these days? I have the OG Rift but am concerned about sinking any more money into them because if I ever want to get another headset THAT'S NOT TIED TO FACEBOOK, I think I'll basically lose my entire library. I remember in the beginning I sent them a bunch of emails requesting that they open up the store to all headsets, some of which they were actively blocking, not just Oculus. "Exclusives" need to die a quick death. I never understood why people support a practice that excludes gamers who have other hardware. <shrug>
This is super-frustrating, but not limited to Oculus by any wild stretch Frown
  • Buy a game on Nintendo Switch, you can't play it on your Xbox
  • Buy attachments for your Dyson, you can't use 'em on a Tineco
  • Buy a book on your Kindle, can't read it on a Nook (but at least there are Kindle apps for a lot of other hardware)

So does steam tend to follow suit or they just ignore oculus sales? I much rather buy on Steam but a buck is a buck.

If an Oculus Store game page says "Supports Rift" AND "Supports Quest", you can buy it for either system and it will be free for the other system. Some apps and games have separate versions, like Virtual Desktop, which shows up in both stores, but only says "Supports Quest" in the Quest store and "Supports Rift" in the Rift store. Ones like that are NOT cross-buy.

Ho. Lee. CRAP.

Gravity Sketch 3D Modeling is one of the most incredible experiences I've had with consumer electronics, ever.

For 9 bucks, don't think. Just get it. Start the tutorial. Wow.

I was just pondering buying it for $30 today. Great news - my 3D printer will be busy.

before i buy any more oculus quest stuff, couple questions:

1) Can i use Quest 2 by signing into my existing Oculus account (bypassing facebook entirely)?
2) Can i use same Oculus account (or facebook, if necessary) on multiple headsets in same household? If yes, how will game play/saves be handled?

This really isn't similar to any of the things you listed unless only buying for Quest. The desktop Oculus uses the exact game as you would buy on steam and runs from the computer. Instead of I bought a game for a Nintendo switch and have to buy again now that I have an Xbox, it would be more similar to I bought the game for my nintendo switch and have to buy it again because I'm upgrading my LG TV to a new Samsung tv.

You can tell if you see which device it's compatible for. Unfortunately Superhot was not crossbuy when I bought it 2 weeks ago. Maybe it's changed?
How can you tell whether a specific title is a cross buy? Just never noticed it when in the Oculus Store.

Edit: Nvmd, just notice pd another post explaining the process above.

Only went with Gravity Sketch, I just don't see sticking with the other games that much (Would rather get them on a steam sale and being 'tethered' to a PC)

I can only answer #1. The Quest 2 in particular requires Facebook to set up. It will force you to merge your oculus account and facebook account into one. Previous oculus devices will let you keep using your Oculus log in for a while.

Here is an official list of the games / experiences that are crossbuy:

https://www.oculus.com/experience...183153590/

Note that as far as I can tell, the prices listed on that page seem to correspond to the price on the QUEST section of the store - which might be cheaper if you were to buy the exact same crossbuy game on the RIFT section of the store

In what can only be called "boneheaded", the Oculus store allows price differences on the QUEST and RIFT section for games when they are crossbuy. I somewhat understand why they do this for titles that don't support crossbuy, but when they are crossbuy, it should be the same price in both stores - unless the goal is have consumers accidentally pay more for it on the "wrong" store.

Anyway, enjoy. Nice to see some titles on sale the week after the Quest 2 dropped.

Wouldnt it be easier to just not buy a quest then?
I doubt Facebook makes any money off quest hardware, so consumers are the product (as always with Facebook).

Definitely not buying anything in Oculus store that is available elsewhere (steam) because Facebook can disable your account whenever if feels like, or by mistake and there is no clear way to fix it.

Either buy it or dont on principle. Justifying why you wont buy software on principle but WILL buy the hardware from evil facebook corp is just mental gymnastics. Grow up. Facebook is evil or not, support them or dont. Stop having your cake and eating it too. Cool enough to turn your nose up to PART of what they offer because you bet they pretty much dont make money on it so thats ok. What weird flexible rules you live by. If you wanna display your backbone finish growing it first.

And yes, as with almost ALL gaming systems the hardware itself isnt where the money is but sales charts STILL support the company. If youre truly against facebook in how they handle the quest then dont buy it. Its simple. Versus buying it and endless complaining about the other sheep who . . . Also bought it . . . Just like you . . .
