My 2.5 year old rides a balance bike (no pedals, no training wheels)

Edit - also could be used for scooters, or riding in a bike seat on an adult's bike

My 2 year old rides short gun on my mountain bike. So, the helmet is necessary.

My 4 years old drives a battery powered open top car, so for safety wears one, to hedge against falling off the car.

They absolutely should wear a helmet with training wheels as well. We had an aggressive rider and she still tipped the bike plenty of times.

There's a newer helmet design called MIPS (Fusion In-Mold) Polycarbonate shells), If you want to get a better helmet for the kids. Bell offers them somewhere, smallest they have is Child size (1 size bigger than Toddler), called Sidetrack II MIPS

Yeah, but you feel good knowing this is the cheapest helmet money can buy.

What responsible adult would allow their kid to ride a bike without a helmet, training wheels or not? My kid definitely fell with training wheels (fast riding, uneven sidewals, etc.).

And for any new parents out there, I highly recommend wrist, elbow, and knee pads when kids are learning to ride. My kid was spared much pain and many scars simply by having proper protection.

Based on my coordination as an adult, I'm guessing i'm the kind of kid who fell off my bike with training wheels....and it also would explain a lot.

Most importantly don't use training wheels. They are counterproductive.
