For first time buyers, if the glass bulb shatters outdoor, it will be a big mess to clean up and will make your backyard/patio unusable. Better to go for shatterproof ones. It will be less in weight as well and easy to hang.
Wow, thank you. Almost pulled the trigger but this was going to be mounted over a pool patio.
I installed these over 3 months ago and am very happy with the quality and the plastic bulbs. Already had a couple get knocked down due to errant ball and the plastic bulbs were just fine after falling 10'. As someone else mentioned, the plastic bulbs are lighter as well.
Harbor Freight has a pretty good version of these that I can recommend. Pair with the basically always available 20% off coupon for a pretty good option.
I can't barely use my backyard during and after sunset. Mosquitoes in Texas fark you over good, and we're all a lot more reactive, such that the skin damage lasts a while. This is despite constant mosquitos treatment sprays and virtually no breeding grounds. Life sucks.
Yeah, what a monumental task it would be. Probably harder than most people are capable of these days.
I've broken glass bulbs on my deck before. After a couple minutes of backbreaking work akin to the coal mine days of yesteryear, I had the environmental impact study and rejuvenation work all complete.
And then we walked 10 miles in the snow to discard the rubbish in the rubbish yard. And we liked it!!! -- Grumpy Old Man

I would not trust plastic bulbs to hold up well in hot climates, which is why I got ones out of glass. I don't trust the plastic to not discolor after one or two summers. Unless this is hanging over a pool, what's the risk? Also, once they're hung, how are they going to fall and break?

I have 7 strands of these lights covering my backyard. My neighbor says that hen they are lit up, my backyard looks like a food truck yard lol.
I highly recommend the Costco version- Costco has good warranty.
One of the ones I bought had a busted light bulb. They replaced it for free. They-Costco.
Ask if you buy these, you have to twist the bulbs real tight for them to light up. That's to prevent water/ moisture from getting in

Cheaper than Costco's typical $39.99 for similar Feit lights
EDIT: Costco is better, because Costco includes 24 bulbs and this one include 15 bulbs.

But I have not decided if I need to buy another one from costco.
