We have had two of the long incandescent Costco string lights zig-zagging across our backyard for years. The soft glow gives our yard a serene look at night. The only problem we had was keeping up with the incandescent bulbs going out (filament breaking). Some of the bulbs would even separate at the base when trying to remove them from the socket. To solve this issue, we bought two packs of replacement LED bulbs and gave our string lights new life and a whole new look! The bulbs are plastic, not glass, and they consume a fraction of the electricity of the incandescent bulbs they replaced.
For anyone in the same situation as we were, below are the replacement bulbs we purchased:
I'm brand new to this and looking to install the Costco ones in a screened in patio. Am I correct in thinking to install I need to drill some hooks into the aluminum frame of the patio to hold these up. Also to plug these in do you just use a regular outdoor GCFI outlet and extension cord? Assuming I can get some kind of outdoor smart outlet to turn them on.
Anyone have any good ideas how to attach these to a vinyl ceiling? I got some 3M hooks designed for holding Christmas lights. Would this work? I'd rather not have to drill in to the vinyl.

I recommend hanging them off of steel wire even if in a patio. Helps them stay put. I use Kasa smart outlet with hours to turn on at dusk and off after a few hours but any old outlet will do.
Harbor Freight has a pretty good version of these that I can recommend. Pair with the basically always available 20% off coupon for a pretty good option.
