I play this game quite often in both TV and handheld mode. It might be that the text is too small for some but I find it perfectly fine. It's definitely not as optimal as playing on PC would be but that's every game ported to the switch. The game runs well and is easy to sink way too many hours into. The switch only has issues when you get to late game phases when sometimes there's a lot going on and the game lags a bit, but it's a turn based game so lag doesn't really matter much. Don't hesitate, this game is worth the cost and the expansion is worth it too.

Civ 2 and 3 are still my favorites. Could never get into 4 so much and don't think I tried 5. How does this one compare to 2 or 3? I liked the simpler game play and graphics. EDIT: For $13 I ordered it. What the heck we need more games for the Switch at home.

Agree with you. I've been a civ player since Civ 2 and I'm surprised so many people are put off by small text in handheld mode, what did they expect? Yes the UI is busy when playing on the small screen but it's perfectly playable, and very fun. I've been waiting for a good portable civ for a long time (not counting the terrible attempts made on mobile platforms) and this version is great.

It's a pity because 5 was perfect. Simple but deep.

6 is worse than 4. Just chalk full of dumb complicated details that you should think about but don't really want to.

Still, any civ is better than no civ.

OK, if I don't like it maybe I should check out V. I might even have that in my Steam account but just never played it. Thank you.

Played the PC version for a while. It just didn't hold my interest as much as some of the previous Civ offerings. I thought Civ V was better personally.
I agree. Also switch graphics terrible for this kind of game

I enjoy Civ VI on the switch, but beware that the Switch is underpowered for processing enemy turns, particularly in mid-late game. I played on a tiny map with only 3 other Civs, and my game was still grinding hard by the time I got to flight.

Yep. Playing on an iPad is better than Switch in this case. For screen real estate and processing.

This.

With the amount of time I have poured into Civ whatever, I could be accomplished at any number of more useful skills. But "Just one more turn..."

My rule with Civ games - buy the complete edition after all the DLC has been released and it went on a huge sale at that. Yes, this is pretty limited to PC. Many recent Civ game reviews go from quite meh at launch to well regarded by the time most or all the content DLC (not adding Civs) is available.

I played less than a single match of base Civ. 6 after it was free on Epic Store. Eh. I have 3, 4, and 5.
