Unfortunately these smokers last less than a few years. The controller dies and then they're useless. Good if you've never smoked meats and don't know if you want to get into it. After it dies, you can upgrade to a nicer unit

I've had mine for 6 years now (the 30" with a window) - I clean the inside once a season and keep it in my garage when not in use. I have used it in the snow, in the rain...and also in nice weather Smilie

It is still going strong, and I had my first issue with it this fall. I had not used it in several months, and it kept popping GFCI outlets. I ran it off an unprotected outlet for an hour to dry the heating element off, and it now works fine on the outdoor outlets again.

Maybe I'm the exception, not the rule, but for $130 for a unit you can smoke 12 racks of ribs in is pretty slick!

Mine failed on. Luckily I caught it early, the temperature jumped to 500, when set at 225. The reviews on the masterbuilt smokers on amazon are terrible. Seems like each one needs a YMMV tag.

I'm waiting on the 30" to drop to $150 to give as a gift (it's currently $175). There's no way this is valid, but i'd love to be proven wrong.

FWIW, I've had a 30" for about 6-7 years and I love it. I had to replace the heating element, maybe 2 years ago, but it was a cheap part and a ten min fix. I keep it in my garage and run it off the only non-gfci circuits in the house (the garage door outlets...)

A rack of ribs is a tight fit in the 30", but mine has been going strong for a bit longer than yours. The LEDs are shot, so I just count the beeps!

If it's the same company, they have good reviews as an Amazon seller.

I bought one. I have one now it's going on two years old so this will be a backup.

Amazon reviews for company look good. Anyone bought directly from the site?

Masterbuilt will send you a replacement controller for ~$25. Got one fixed up this way, been using it for 6+ years now.
