Yes
Edit. They have in store trade in for an additional 20%
Has anyone done this? They would take the 20% off the sale price? Anyway to know what they'd give for the trade-in?

I understand those of you removing Amazon stuff from these... but do Kids+ (Freetime) profiles still work with that?

I find Freetime perfect for our 1st grader and preschooler. We paid $20 for a family subscription (upto 4 kids) on Prime Day and there are a ton of free apps, games, books, etc. without ANY ads. My biggest complaint about free kids learning apps and games from the Play Store is that they are all crippled and full of ads for paid upgrades.

We got the 8" "plus" version with 3GB RAM and wireless charging for $74.99 (- $10 Whole Foods credit) on Prime Day.

Would this work with the DJI fly app if I install android? I just need a bigger screen and looking for a cheap option...if not, any other recommendations?

How much better is the new samsung a7 for $90 more.. I feel for my needs this is sufficient.. just streaming youtube and YouTube tv mostly and web browsing. No gaming or anything intensive. I have the 8" HD (not plus) of this tablet for my kids and loaded the Amazon toolbox which is nice and debloats everything. For them it's perfectly fine, for me I find it laggy and the screen isn't that great but from what I've read this would be faster with a better screen
I bought the a7 and this last week from Amazon. Both are perfect for streaming. I actually prefer the HD 10. The screen on the a7 looks a tad better and it has 4 speakers. You can't go wrong with the HD 10 for the price.

I got three HD10s last year - one for me and two for my parents. I removed the ads and installed the play store with toolbox. The biggest drawback for them is that there is no way to cast from the Amazon device, not even to an Amazon stick. Even third party apps were unable to do so across popular services (Plex, Netflix. Amazon Video).

I was going to use mine for content consumption (browsing, mostly) but the modern web has resulted in multi-second loads and 1-2 sec reaction time to clicks which, compared with my three year old phone, is just frustratingly slow and unresponsive. I found the built-in browser essentially unusable and installed Dolphin, which was better but still sluggish on complex sites. It's a dedicated status panel for my 3D printer (via Octoprint) now. For the $70 I pad after trade in of an OG iPad, I don't feel cheated, but I wouldn't want to use it for anything complex or interactive.
Thanks for the feedback... wow, didn't know it cann't cast. Never actually tried with the 8". Web browsing is sluggish on the 8" but because my kids use it for streaming and educational games it's not a huge deal. Hoping the HD10 is smoother for web browsing since I'll be using it for that and I agree the built in browser isn't that good, will try different ones.

Nice, if I can save $90 for similar performance, I'm all for it. Thanks

2 GB memory and 32 GB storage in 2020 is pretty bad, especially with Amazon services running in the background.
Youd be surprised, runs better and faster than my sons ipad he got from school, dont know which model ipad it was but holly god is it slow

I got one of these during the prime sale. Does anyone have a recommendation for a case for this?

Hopefully, you'll get a more knowledgeable response, but afaik, Freetime does work within the Amazon environment. You can go here [xda-developers.com] , then search Freetime to read what users say/ask.

Yes, that is my understanding. Honestly, a $20 for a year of annoyance free apps, games and books is worth it to me. If it were for me, yes I would remove Amazon stuff.

I bought both A7 and HD10, removed all Amazon crap with XDA and did side by side comparison. Keep in mind that it was for my daughter for mainly youtube and movies, the occasional web browsing. HD 10 screen was
better, but overall slower. Load times on youtube and pulling up plex movies from our home server were faster on A7. Plus certain apps were still not 100% compatible on HD even with XDA mods. In the end kept the A7 for $90 more returned HD10.

Is this the same generation Fire HD 10 that was on sale for 80 bucks during Prime day? If so I might go to this route as I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered from Amazon

hoping Amazon will match so I can use my promo credit there and trade in an old fire 7 tablet. Is this cheaper than Amazon offered for prime day ?
