Edit. They have in store trade in for an additional 20%
I find Freetime perfect for our 1st grader and preschooler. We paid $20 for a family subscription (upto 4 kids) on Prime Day and there are a ton of free apps, games, books, etc. without ANY ads. My biggest complaint about free kids learning apps and games from the Play Store is that they are all crippled and full of ads for paid upgrades.
We got the 8" "plus" version with 3GB RAM and wireless charging for $74.99 (- $10 Whole Foods credit) on Prime Day.
I was going to use mine for content consumption (browsing, mostly) but the modern web has resulted in multi-second loads and 1-2 sec reaction time to clicks which, compared with my three year old phone, is just frustratingly slow and unresponsive. I found the built-in browser essentially unusable and installed Dolphin, which was better but still sluggish on complex sites. It's a dedicated status panel for my 3D printer (via Octoprint) now. For the $70 I pad after trade in of an OG iPad, I don't feel cheated, but I wouldn't want to use it for anything complex or interactive.

Too bad you can't do that to your brain.

better, but overall slower. Load times on youtube and pulling up plex movies from our home server were faster on A7. Plus certain apps were still not 100% compatible on HD even with XDA mods. In the end kept the A7 for $90 more returned HD10.
