Been watching for a deal on a decent 1080p projector and while refurbs seem to sell for less, if you want a new projector, this seems like a good deal.

Epson Home Cinema Full HD 1080p 3LCD projector:
  • 2,500 lumens of equal color and white brightness
  • Widescreen Full HD 1080p entertainment
  • supports MHL-enabled devices for mirroring and charging
  • Dynamic contrast ratio up to 35,000:1 for rich detail in dark scenes
  • Built-in 10 W speaker
  • 3D

How does this compare to the 1060? I have that now and it works well for my purpose but not sure what I would notice different if upgrading.

I think that one is brighter and doesn't have 3D

I bought the epson 2150 when it released a while back, these are great projectors. BUT, from the time I bought it up to now, I have had 2 damaged lamps under 2000H of usage and my first projector had a visual defect so I had to send it to epson to fix, since then I haven't had more problems, image is great. Compared to my 4k projector, it's basically 80% of the image quality, at a quarter of the price, so it's truly incredible

That is true. I have mine outside so it doesn't bother me. Don't a great majority of projectors do that anyway?

OK, thanks. I thought 1060 was brighter and I don't care about 3D. I thought this model was in a higher category than the 1060.

Good question. It was my first and it's just something to note for people that aren't expecting it as first time buyers.

You need active 3D glasses (the RF kind=radio freq) Samsung SSG-5150 (cheap) will work or I got the Hi Shock red ones (expensive) 2X EPSON Compatible 3D Active Glasses RF Pro Scarlet Heaven | for 3D Projector Epson Home Cinema 750HD, 2000, 2030, 2040, 3000, 3020, 3500, 3600, 4030 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010MRU...S7af7UuywH
I need 4 and the link you provided is an overkill price wise. Any other suggestions for good 3D glasses that will work with Epson 2150? Also, I don't see Hi Shock red one in your link?

Finally able to jump onto one of these better projector deals! Planning on using it for outdoor movie nights. I'm in a city so hopefully the surrounding lights don't drown the picture out too badly.

Check eBay for that samsung SSG-5150 and you can get them I got 6 pairs for $76 which isn't terrible. Sorry the red must be out of stock but the others will work if you need it now.

Does Epson or any other manufacturer make one that is 4K and 3D? I can't seem to find one.

I have enjoyed this projector. I use it everyday for several hours. I bought this on Black Friday for $600 I think 2 years ago. This is an even better deal. Only issue I had was when I used to use a Blackbird HDMI over ethernet kit, it wouldn't detect the signal input. A projector firmware update solved the issue.

FYI this is the old model. the newer one is the 2150 which I have. I like this projector because bulbs are cheap.
