There is a new Mavic Mini already?

What's new?
Of course, they have to quickly come out with the next newest so that yours becomes obsolete and get you to pry open your wallet and spend, it's a vicious scam cycle.

I heard the Litchi App supports some kind of "follow me" for Mavic Mini. Anyone here tried that?
Yeah, I heard about 3rd party solutions, but I don't want to "hack around" the problem. I'd rather stick to official support from the official app. Given that third party can support it... it's ridiculous that they intentionally hamstring their lower priced products (Spark/Mini)....

That is totally true in developed countries. However in the 3rd world there isn't almost any restriction. You can fly anywhere.
fark the FAA, FPV pirate for life!. You will all see where this is headed and what they are doing is softening up the road for the very near future where the average peasant won't be allowed to own or even fly them. In this new world order and one world gov, you will obey. I have been warning the RC community ever since the FAA stuck their paws in the hobby what was all coming, no one listened.. "Ohhh we need safety everyone cried". Now look around on a lot of YouTube videos, THEY ARE ALL CRYING ABOUT IT NOW. I told them all what their true intentions were and what they were going to do and all of it came true. None of the people in the RC community are liking any of it what the FAA is proposing and their proposals usual stick Ronald Reagan said it best, the most scariest words you would ever want to hear is "Hi, i am from the gov and i am here to help!". I can point you to a start point to show that what i am saying is true, look into U.N agenda 21 which has now been changed to U.N agenda 2030. Choose where you get the information carefully because if you get it from them they are gonna lie to you, if you get it from people who know the terms and laws then your information will be correct.

I did buy a mini from woot last week, but love it so much that I'll probably get the new one. I do hope that the batteries are the same as I invested in several new ones and some chargers.

Unless they did some massive improvements, I won't be able to justify the $200 difference between the fly more combo for Amazon deal of Mini for $399 and the new $599 for Mini 2.

For all those waiting for Mini 2, the rumored launch date is Nov 5.

Over any people not directly controlling the drone? Illegal.
Flying without your eyeballs directly on the drone? Illegal. So all of those cool clips where you ride your bike through a path, or walk along a beach, using the "follow me" feature are breaking the law. There's very little interesting stuff to do without looking through the screen (unless you have a spotter).
If you are Part 107 (which any commercial use should be), you can apply for waivers. https://www.faa.gov/uas/resources...Waiver.pdf

The FAA is now going to require drones to have ADS-B which is a transponder that tells a third-party the coordinates of the drone and info of the flyer. DJI and all legit drone makers will have to comply with this for drones over 250g.
Not exactly correct. They will require an ID transponder system, but it's specifically NOT ADS-B. In fact, the FAA is banning ADS-B on drones that already have it (some large ones) to avoid ADS-B congestion.

No chance of that for that exact reason... New drone new accessory sales.

The Mini 1 is so damn good (at least for how I use it) that I can't really see a reason to spend $200 bucks just to get 4K and some improved range. I hope there is more to it than that, or it seems they may have missed the mark on pricing.

Hmm...for just 4K I don't need it.

I have a Mini (well it's stuck in a palm tree now),

For my purposes, I don't need 4K. The files are huge.

I'd rather have 1080p and a cheaper drone.

Looks the battery capacity will be lesser than Mini 1. The Mavic Mini 2 looks to have a 2250mAh battery compared to the 2400mAh battery of the Mavic Mini. My guess is this is being done to keep the weight under 250gm.

i was so excited to finally get a drone since they have become at a point of being small and portable yet still retain powerful features and video/photo quality.

But damn, a few posts about the reality of owning and restriction on flying was a HUGE KILL JOY. lol

Since these are affordable now, any hacks to disable them from connecting to mother brain to send the logs and bypass any gps restriction? And bringing up affordable meaning that its ok if warranty is voided at that point

Still love my Spark but it's about time for an upgrade. Glad I didn't get the mini now.
I love my spark also! Somehow the current Mavic mini still has fewer features

Thats called breaking the law. There's a reason why there are restricted areas.

Plenty of people still do it though. Registering is easy, and getting authorization is pretty quick. I flew near my house which is close to an airport. Check online for restricted areas you plan on flying.

A couple questions about these:
- Can you use FPV goggles with the Mini, and do you think you'll be able to with the Mini 2?
- Any chance the Mini2 will have a "follow me" or obstacle avoidance?
- What's a prediction for a price on the Mini 1 or Mini 2 for Black Friday?
- I see a lot of drones on FB Marketplace and Craigslist, which are tempting. Any advice on getting drones from there?
- What's the deal with DJI's "quiet" propellers? Do they make much of a difference?
- Should I get a Mini 1, Mini 2, or an Air 1? I want a fun drone to take some aerial movies with and fly around. I don't need anything too serious, but I'd like a good one.
