Note: Micron sold Lexar business (and brand) in 2017, so quality may not be the same as you remember (for good or bad).

With ANY flash drive the most important thing is to FILL IT TO THE MAXIMUM immediately and then verify contents (if no error during write). This tests the full capacity of the drive as well as the basic overprovisioning (if any) of a completely full disk... I.E. At least you will know you have a full 128gb of good cells to start with.

This also tests the thermal throttling to ensure the drive properly throttles to avoid catastrophic data loss. (Sometimes having it slow down is a good thing, lol)

By doing this immediately, you are inside the return period as the warranties on most usb drives are relatively useless.

I have 3 sdcards for my Sony nex5 camera. The cards are well over 5 years old and work fine. Maybe a tad slower than first used...but no problems here......
That was old Lexar made by Micron. Micron sold that division to the Chinese and now the quality has gone down the hill. Like you none of my older Lexar drives ever failed. I used to buy a ton of their SD and flash drives from OfficeDepot and Staples. It speaks volumes especially because Micron still makes the Crucial hard drives which are just as reliable as Lexar once was in the past

How are SSDs "expensive"?

A 1TB SSD drive can be found for less than $100 pretty frequently. You're getting more than 1GB per dollar.

This deal is 128gb for $13. You're getting slightly less than 1GB per dollar spent. So these USB drives are actually more expensive.

Would this work well as additional storage for an Xbox One S?
Don't use usb flash drives for Xbox. I corrupted one - not sure what caused it. Better to use an external ssd or hdd- you will get more storage as well

I would stay away from Lexar. I had great percentage of their flash memory products failed on me over the years that include SD cards to USB drives. Even with good warranty you can't make up for lost data.
Lost data is gonna happen on any storage if it's only stored in that one place, which is really bad practice. Treat all storage as if it's gonna fall, by having it in multiple locations, local and off-site, and you'll never lose data.

Have had good luck with Lexar USB drives in the past, but concerned with recent quality issue posts. Just had a SanDisk 3.0 256GB drop to 2.0 speeds thanks to reformatting. Google it, it's an issue. At this point, what brands do you recommend?

With these flash drives be decent/good for putting movies on and plugging in to the USB port on the back of a TV or a gaming console, like an Xbox One or PS4, to be able to watch downloaded movies?

If someone could offer up a helpful response to this question, I would appreciate it.

Even if it did, this would be SUPER slow.

A 128GB SSD is not $13 though.

That said comparing them is futile. Flash drives are slower thant external SSD.

I ordered one to copy my library of shows from my PC to my Chromecast with Google TV, I use MX player on that to play them, its really quit a good system, but currently I only have a few small USB 2.0 drives so this will be much better (and faster)
